  • Feel such a failure.

You all seem to bake your own break, slow cook your meals and prepare in advance.

I am a useless cook and thinking about what to have for mealtimes is a nightmare. Also I am vegetarian and unsure of cooking meat, especially reheating it. Thinking of investing in a slow cooker as quite cheap, but unsure of a breadmaker as they are more expensive.

Big clean up today, but will be tomorrow too and am going to try to clear out some more clutter and reorganise a few bits.

Have a scary observation at school tomorrow. As a new teacher I'm observed every half term and I'm very nervous so off to get a good nights sleep. Depending on how well the obs goes depends on how motivated I am towards all the other tasks on the list.

ooohhhhh i remember those days and dh only finished 1st year in the summer - thinking of you. I'm not doing it since had children but just started doing some supply at school used to work at and going in to help in class for ofsted this week - but not as scary as im not teacher. Thanks Lil_me, I'll make a start on a list for my daily tasks then. I've a feeling it's going to be very, very long.
Mines longer than that but gives you a rough idea of what type of things are included, my lists 30 points long with a ticky box for each day (ok sad maybe but keeps me right, so can add a few to that :)

Before anyone mentions it on this thread, has happened before  and got the comments of at 6 and 8 they should be doing things themselves, yes my sons are older but both have motor difficulties aswell as other issues (oldest has Autism, youngest being assessed) so they need help with dressing, cleaning, toileting etc.

Incorrect, not everyone, I don't even own a breadmaker and wouldn't know where to start, I do meal plan for the week but not every day goes to plan. Only had a slow cooker just over a month. Best way to test meat is with a thermometer. You've achieved a lot, not a failure by a long shot. I started this board clueless and didn't even dare post for ages! I was the worst cook ever, every meal was a readymeal or processed something, but with time, practise and a sense of humour, I am getting there! Every week there are at least 2 easy cook meals, either something I made extra of lasagne etc, or omlettes, something with chips etc I can just throw together in minutes. I can make mashed potato that is edible which is amazing for me!

Loumac best of luck :D hope the obs session goes ok
One day I might be more organised...........

just do your best, don't compare yourself to other people! just do a bit at a time, you'll get there eventually, its a marathon not a sprint, best not to burn out too soon!

try and think of the positives - a good clean up today is a great achievement :)

scaredy cat thank you so much for your message. Good luck with Ofsted!

3KIDSNOMONEY don't beat yourself up! As is said many times across this site - it's all about babysteps!

Up until the past month I was a running joke in my family as no one could believe I had lived (and survived) alone for 3 years only knowing how to make sandwiches or bowls of cereal to eat!

This site really does have all the help you'll need, just set yourself little challenges and be proud of all your progress.

My slowcooker was a gift but I know was only £15 and requires no skill to cook a lovely meal. I don't feel ashamed in using Colmans packet mixes - we can't all do everything! Bang it all in!

My breadmaker was free on freecycle - though I haven't used it yet!

    To EVERYONE be proud of all your achievements - you're all ace from what I can see! :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T
Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...

Don't you dare run yourself down!! You're taking your first steps remember and that is a huge achievement to even try! It's taken me 20 years to get this organised and most of that has been done in the last 5, only because I'm a SAHM and both of mine are at school all day. You should have seen my house in the summer when I took all summer off to take the kids to interesting places. It took me two weeks after they had gone back to school to even see the bottom of the laundry basket.

Just remember that you are a flybaby! Take babysteps and even if you achieve one more thing than usual then that is brilliant. Please don't allow yourself to get overwhelmed by what other people do. Set your own pace and just remember that no question on OS is a silly question.

As for meal planning. Check what you have in the freezer or cupboards. Run through all available cookery books and check what you can cook with what you have. Write down a list of what you need to complete those recipes and then decide what day you are going to have each dish. Then you are doing the Grocery Challenge, storecupboard challenge and meal planning all in one go!
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Well the dishes are done (thanks to OH), including a new dinner service from Asda (only Smartprice one but it's plain white which is what I wanted and at £5 I can't complain ;):j ), the ironing is partly done (thanks to OH as well, while he watched one of his new DVD's), uniforms are done, and DD and I have started on her room  We did a 27-"thing"-boogie as DD calls it, to Houseworks 2 :rotfl: Also vacuum packed all her spare cuddly toys and put them away. Only toys and our stored stuff to go :D :j

Tomorrow is a new week so a new start. Written my list out on paper and will probably add a few bits. Time for bed in 4 minutes so I'm going to shift myself ;) Night all and see you in the morning.

    Hi Loumac & scaredycat,

Have been reading this thread for ages although I haven't written any posts.
I'm doing my PGCE primary at the moment, so can totally relate to the nerves for observations. Good luck with that Loumac!

Was just wondering whether it is still possible to be a flylady as well as a teacher? At the moment, I am so exhausted all the time that I find keeping the flat tidy a virtually impossible task, and I'm starting to feel really guilty about it all. Have only been managing to keep up with the washing, shine my sink and do the 27 fling boogie.

When my boyfriend and I got together 4 1/2 years ago, I used to do so much around the house. Does it get any easier?

    sexymouse xx

PS. Thank you to moggins for your daily tasks, at least it gives me something to aim for even if I don't quite achieve it all.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
