I am not knowledgable about storage heaters but they normally run a special electric line IE not spurs so they maybe controlled by the meter itself. Why not go to there internet site and see if they have an instruction manual or just put in the model number? When they are running the meter will spin like mad and the red numbers will be visibly moving (I think so anyway) espcially just after start up at 12:30 AM (My time) JB

    Will do thanks.

Wierd thing is having done a few comparison websites, the NPower Online v18 seems more competitive than what I am already on, even more so than the Scottish Power one. The fixed price with SP is appealing though..

Update: Have been on the phone to Scottish Power, have agreed to switch to them. Also going to invest in some timers and ring EON who manage my meter to see exactly what times the Day/Night tarrifs kick in.

    :)

Just tried a comparison site and they said Online Energy Reward from Scottish power was best but not available through them online. I checked on the Uswithch site. NPower Online v18 was 3rd best but again i live in a different area. I would actually have to see the tariff for your area for both Online Energy Reward and the v18 which is not easy to find. Anyway it is much quicker and easier to stick with npower as they will just do all the chages over the phone same day. What was the estimated savings by the way. JB PS yes it is not a bad idea haveing a fix as you can just forget about it unless prices fall alot and then you can still change you just have to pay them something which in my case is £30 alot to me but not to a heavy user like yourself. Check how much you have to pay for swithching early.

PS Switch the computer of when not using I actually do it at the wall once the screen goes blank and I do the same with telly swithch of at the socket. You will be supprised how much it saves. JB PS was it online energy reward you took with scottish power? JB

PPS I am going out in the garden I have had enough of sitting in front of computer on beautiful day like this BUT just before I do!!!!!! With Scottish Power's internet site you can download your own meter readings. There are also pages which show the following: your up to date bill, your average usage since your last reading and all previous meter readings and a graph of your year on year reading. IE comparing your last years to this year. On the day they take out the direct debit put in your reading this will allow you to see exactly where you stand. You can of course put a reading in as often as you want but doing so when you pay your direct debit is the most important one. JB

This is an open question to any electricity company representatives monitoring this thread.

I am seriously thinking about installing solar PV (Solar electric panels on the roof).

If I then wanted to change suppliers, to get a cheaper supply rate during the day or night or both, would my FiT cause extra problems?
