Can I just ask, I notice we have 7 collaborators in the team who are looking at the 'windows live' environment. Is that because other folk who post regularly on here:
    A) still see themselves as recipe testing but don't want to get bogged down in too much of the detail of the project
    B) would actually very much like to but aren't sure if they should wait for an invitation/can't get their heads around the technology/didn't even know lesley had set one up etc etc...
    [/QUOTE]

My reson is that i am hopeless on computers and can get excited if i can "copy and paste" an item and knowing my luck i would prob delete all yours and Lesleys hard work and have to go into hiding forever lol.

Have tested the Pasta Alfredo as per recipe
Nice and easy to make. Ex made it and this was the first time he has ever attemped a roux. End result very filling and tasty would def make again maybe BOB could make it one eve for Shirley as a treat. We added some spring onions but only because they needed used up and used Cheddar as we didnt have any other kind of cheese in the house. But nom nom
Glad to see you back Weezl but dont go overdoing it.
Happy Birthday hope you have a lovely day and we will NOT expect to hear from you until Wednesday xxxxxxxxx:A

    Your wish is my command!

Starting with 200g of no knead dough ( not the B+S one but I dont think it will matter).

This makes about 13 bread sticks, if you roll it out then cut it. I think if you rolled it, then spread on filling , then rolled it up like a swiss roll, then cut it, you might get 2 more per batch. I think there could be an issue with that though, as they then become 1 bite each pinwheels, so easy to eat more. The long ones are several bites, which might feel like more IYSWIM?

I have done half cheese and mustard and half garlic butter. For a whole batch like this, I would have used 1/2 tsp mustard and 20g cheese or 10g butter and a tiny bit of garlic.

They are proving now ( I thought a good prove might puff them more a make them look more substantial :-)) and I will report back later.

I wasn't sure what else might be available from the shopping list, so just used things I knew we had.

Right, only me and DS1 here today.

verdict is, yes long is better and feels like more.

Garlic ones are nom. Probably 3 is a serving.

Cheese and mustard are also nom, however, they scream out for some kind of dip/sauce we both thought.

So, some definite possibilities there, and no doubt some other possible toppings across the 3 planners.
Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.

    QOS! superb!

That's amazing! Well done you :D In a gazzillion years I wouldn't have thought of it. I'm so pleased, they will be lovely.

When I posted Mr Aless' savoury bites I said to DH I was frustrated with myself because I feel like all the photos I'm putting up at the moment are all for things which are tasty, but are something in a bowl or something patty-shaped :rotfl:

Lesley thanks loads for your project management post. That's so helpful, I particularly like the way there are nice clear easy steps for me to follow.

*weezl wonders how much she would need to pay Lesley to write her a step-by step day planner to manage to get 2 very small boys clean, fed, safe and well each day*:D

Shanks, great news about ex cooking the alfredo, and it being a really good recipe to follow without having done a roux before. All credit to Howlin, whose well-thought through method it is. Also thanks for my very sweet PM :) I love roses!

ariarnia that's interesting about the presentation. You'd more want a booklet than a website?

I'm just checking cos I'd envisaged something useful as being web-based, so that from each page you can easily click on the next thing you need to know, according to interest, ie what's the nutrition of this recipe I'm looking at? Or what's on the meal planner for next thursday because it's Bob's birthday....

I have thought about this incidentally, and I thought we could suggest that Shirley asks all the family to say their favourite recipe and then she could just swap that whole day with another whole day to make sure people's birthday tea is still nice :)

In my head, Bob has the roast chicken on his birthday and Jenny has the veggie burgers :rotfl:

susan, thanks :) that would be great.

murrell hello! :) re the cornmeal, did we go for the 350mg CA or are we thinking that's for one which has been treated to avoid pellagra and is only sold in the states?

Aless, as you are from the deep south, can you shed any light here?

ok, some urgent tasks given how close we are to having a Bob and Shirley plan to run with for our tester month:

the stuffing for with the roast dinner. I'd be hugely grateful if a few could test this please :)
itself contains no meat or dairy, so as long as you have something to put with it, vegetarian and vegan testers are most welcome!

Please could someone put together Shirley's seasonings shopping list using mysupermarket, shopping at asda, and getting larger amounts of things where to do so will save Shirley money. This will then give us a price.

My definites/hopes are that it can manage to contain salt, black pepper, garam masala, chilli, garlic powder/granules, mustard powder, stock cubes, marmite

Lesley, you and I both uploaded new spreadsheets last night but that means that our changes are held in different places now:( which set of changes is easier to retrofit back into the other one do you think?:)

Aless, how many slices per loaf are you getting out of the paul merrett recipe split into 3 loaves? xxx

For my future research only (so Lesley doesn't have palpitations about keeping me on track!) Potty could you please write a survey to find out more about the needs/views/opinions of people who want planner 4 (ceridwen's 'hard nut' planner:), my understanding of this one is that it is designed to address the non-negotiable 'no/little processed foods') which was included in both mine and arty's polls)

I'd love it if it could contain the following questions:

omega 3: how can this be delivered? Rapeseed oil (if low erussic acid and not GM)? Pilchards? Other (please specify- and please for my sake ensure the ingredient you give does actually deliver O-3 :))

calories: If not delivering any calories through sugar, how would you want these delivered?

sugar: which kinds are ok/not ok? ie is fructose the only acceptable sugar? And if so does it need to be still in the fruit? What can I use to sweeten things which have to be sweetened?

if no sugars, does that mean this is a planner with no pudding/cake/cereal bars at all and is that ok with people?

Processed food: please give your definition of what types of processing are acceptable and which are not. In particular please address the following: canning, large scale drying using chemical dessicants of fruits/vegetables (if not then no raisins, sun dried tomatoes, marrowfats, please suggest alternatives here, placing of fruits in a sulpherous environment to carry long haul whilst ripening, sealing in polyeurethane bags, milling (ie of flour) sifting (of flour into different grades), if no sifting, please state what you would like me to do about pasta, just not have any at all? Oils/fats how are these to be distilled from seed/fruit? If only to be cold-pressed please state how you would like me to address the trans-fat introduction that cooking will bring, or must these be consumed raw? Of dairy, is large vat incorporation of setting agents and machine splitting of curds and whey acceptable? If not, is home made paneer cheese the only cheese option, and what should I do about the fact that I need UHT milk to produce this, will I need to teach shirley 4 to ultra heat treat her milk at home? Eggs: is the injection of the chicken with the immunisation to salmonella enterides acceptable as a processing method or not? If no, please state does shirley 4 not eat eggs at all? Marmite and stock just not use them? Seasonings, just not use them? (all of those involving fortification, dessicant drying, extraction large scale (- salt) addition of anti-caking agents and preservatives. Is the type of packaging that's used of significance here?

There is more but I'll just pause there!

Potty I'll need you to work hard on the wording of that survey to give it your normal friendly tone! At the moment it sounds like the final exam in a very scary dietetics degree course :D Also as I read it back I wonder if you might be thinking I'm asking too much of you and the survey creating tool. Please do say if so. I'm aware you do a colossal amount of work in producing these and collecting the results, and you are an unsung hero!

How should we launch it? a survey thread linking to potty's survey entitled 'how far will you go to be healthy while saving money?' Or something?

quick query, is it the egg based onion tart linked at the start of the thread or the eggless one I am supposed to be making? and does anyone know where the stuffing recipe is?

Edit: if its the bbc good food one that frankie linked to , I found it :-). If B+S are ahving stuffing will their list need to include mixed herbs? I think they'd be useful in some of the pastas too and the bread sticks ;-)

hello :) the eggless tart is for planner 2, bob and shirl eat the one with eggs.

Stuffing recipe is not very well defined yet but was posted by FrankieM, do you know how to do a 'search this thread' or would you like me to have a hunt? I'm feeding Kester but will have my other hand free in about half an hour :)

I've written down a lot of recipes before now from Gingham Ribbon's vegetarian mealplanners from a few years ago here. As I've just started to work my way through them and so am remembering about these threads of hers (as she wrote several) - I thought maybe some of the recipes from them might get incorporated at some point? Think people might be interested to take a look at them anyways:):

weezl yes library has terminals and I think most do now...starbucks also have wifi me thinks...
Feel free to pm with ?!!

Oh well...you can always give yourself a good nights sleep (NOT!) by reading up about wi-fi sometime:eek: Did you see that tv programme a whiles back about them having to take it OUT of a school when they discovered it was affecting the childrens health?

Goes off muttering "Just who ARE these idiots that put in wi-fi everywhere and are making a lot of place no-go areas for anyone who reads about the health impacts?"
