Weezl's phase 1- recipe testing and frugalisation- come one, come all!

Can I just ask, I notice we have 7 collaborators in the team who are looking at the 'windows live' environment. Is that because other folk who post regularly on here:
A) still see themselves as recipe testing but don't want to get bogged down in too much of the detail of the projectwould actually very much like to but aren't sure if they should wait for an invitation/can't get their heads around the technology/didn't even know lesley had set one up etc etc...
I'm just hoping we haven't missed any collaboration hopefuls
Weezl, I set up the Windows Live workspace as Googledocs was being so temperamental and I was searching for an alternative. It is a suggestion that may be useful for the project, or may not. One of the disadvantages is that people have to give their email address to have access and I know that many like to keep that private
An advantage that I can see is that project docs could be kept in one place so we don't have several versions on people's own pc's - although I would also keep a backup, I don't trust the technology enough not to have one yet0 -

you too(well not during some of it, I was veeeeeeeeeeryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy distracted then!)
I have been tootling around with the spreadsheet quite happily. Have put in what I think is right for the mustard, but couldn't make much headway on the carrot cake/cereal bars and appley things as I couldn't pin down the definitive recipes. The ones in post #2854 are pointing to recipes that have milk powder for instance, which we don't have any more. I didn't want to mess up anything that you had done, so I left well alone.
Thanks, yep will update those recipes, had forgotten about the milk powder :rotfl:
Happy to have an online chat. Are you thinking Wed?
I didn't want to pester you so soon after Kester's arrival, so have kept all the detailed questions for later.
suspect weds would be fine, it's a bit difficult to predict, so I'll probably say if you're online 'ohh look all is quiet here lets chat?', and if it fits with you then great.
Do you think the Workspace might be useful? I thought maybe we could keep the working docs there eg Ceridwens list of basic equipment, the meal planner(s), nutritional stuff etc
I like itI added some things to the 'do list'
I uploaded my meal planner as some wanted a lookie. I am quite happy with whatever use people may make of it, use it as is (when done, more to do on it yet), as a base, or just to see what I am doing
as your evening meals price point is 50p or below, I wonder if Makk88man would like to have a lookie?
I am finding the process revealing, the bacon turnovers for instance, which I thought would be v. cheap, are actually one of the more expensive meals once I had added veg. Worked out that the bacon I used was 10p a gram - eek
eek indeed! Is it that much with the asda bacon bits too? Or is that more about how you have to shop at ocado for access?

ah, right ho! It looks so slick I thought you'd all gone for it in a big way! I'll hold fire until we've had a better look

The bacon I used was CoOp 300g for £2.50, I don't shop at Ocado, lovely as it is.
The bacon bits are 500g for £1.13, so 0.002p per gram
On seeing .002p, I thought even the CoOp can't be that much more expensive, so rechecked my numbers and I had got the decimal point in the wrong place! So it's 0.01p per gram, better price, but still makes the bacon turnovers 52p when served with peas and carrots and with mushrooms and onion added
Don't do that very often!0 -
Morning,
In regards to '5 a day', I think I'm with you weezl. I do have to agree with the lunches, especially in regards to my DH. I imagine the kinders and I would be fine with a sandwich and cake, but my DH isn't a big bread fan. I thought I would get away with it by 'hiving' off an amount from dinner and giving him leftovers. Obviously that will work better for some meals than others?0 -

I admire people who are good at detail:)
Lesley, the windows live issue with only half the spreadsheet columns fitting, but the second page (an old shopping list is displaying... Could we break the spreadsheet into 2 pages, drop the chopping list and therefore be able to display the whole thing?
Does that make any sense?
xx

yes, it does. That's why I put about the display only covering up to a certain col. I think it's much more readable if you click on it and read it in Excel itself
we could try putting it over 2 pages, but that would make it more awkward for tweaking in Excel, so swings and roundabouts0 -

Cant believe you are on here already! Im a bit at a loss of where the planner is now-I know you and lesley are doing something good with some technical bits and bobs:T but a bit unsure of what is needed/the next step of the plan.

thanks ariarnia, good thoughts
I think I picked up that you are in your new kitchen now?
If so, welcome to Wales
If you heard some pretty fierce noises in the night on wednesday/thursday then we're probably neighbours(ah the joys of homebirths! I'll take my neighbours a cake soon to apologise:rotfl:)
Nearly, picking up the keys Wednesday and moving Friday.
I'll be loosing in the week internets access unless work has a relaxed policy on the internet during lunch hour. I'm happy to follow the plan though and keep a paper diary (updating when I visit OH/internets at weekends) when ever it's ready.
I'm in Wales anyway - parents moved to Ceredigion with me back in 2000 and moved to Monmouthshire 6 months ago when I was made redundant.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
