Hi, please can anyone explain what the difference is between an object-based program and a paint package.
A paint package is a type of art program for making raster-based pictures (JPGs GIFs etc). You use virtual paintbrushes to place virtual paint on a virtual canvas. Once placed you can't change it (except by UNDOing it, or by painting over with another colour). You can use a paint program to touch-up digital photos.

An object-based program is either a program written using a programming concept known as object-orientation (if you're not a programmer you don't need to know about it. I am and it's what I thought of first, but you probably mean the second one), or it's what is otherwise known as a draw package, or vector-based art program.
You draw shapes (objects) such as lines and circles, and having drawn them can adjust their properties (colour, thickness, end-shape, position) and distort them by moving 'handles' on the objects. You can go back and change the objects in this way as often as you want.

Many modern art programs incorporate both 'paint' and 'draw' methods in one package.

Sorry I don't know where else to post this!

Can somebody help please. Trying to assist daughter close her MSN hotmail account Plus, and just keep free hotmail acct. Seems near impossible! Have followed instructions on Microsoft Billing "cancel acct." - doesn't work. Rang number 0800 587 2920, got someone in Phillipines keeping me talking then gave me other number 866 6724551 - non existant! They just keep taking £14.99 per year off credit card and make it impossible to cancel!

Last time I had a similar problem I 'phoned the CC company and told them I'd lost the card. They issued a new card which, of course, had a different card number. That fixed it!

In theory the beneficiary could contact the card company and get them to continue making the payments. In practice there is no chance of that happening.

  • PPPoA - Point to point protocol over asynchronous transfer mode (ATM): A networking method used to connect DSL and cable modems to the Internet. Note that all UK ADSL uses PPPoA. For more info see here.

Ethernet - A packet-based computer networking technology for local area networks (LANs). It defines wiring and signaling for the physical layer, and packet formats and protocols for the media access control (MAC)/data link layer of the OSI model. Ethernet is mostly standardized as IEEE's 802.3. It has become the most widespread LAN technology in use during the 1990s to the present (2003), and has largely replaced all other LAN standards such as token ring, FDDI, and ARCNET. For more info see here.
PPPOE is the irish version of the same thing

As you are new to computers and your laptop is only 2 months old I would advise you to contact the shop where you bought it and get them to fix the problem.

I would not advise you to enter the BIOS as another post has suggested.
Sounds to me like it is coming out of hibernation rather than sleep.
Check your settings in Control Panel. "Change what shutting the lid does" if you have Vista, similar for XP etc.
A fool may give advice but the one who takes it is the bigger fool.

So why did you quote the spam then! The original spam was reported and removed but you have preserved it
It was not removed when I quoted it. Thought this would highlight it and it would receive attention. I have NOT preserved it as if it gets removed so does the quote. Any more sarcasm ?

Obviously because you quoted the spam post! Spam should be reported not quoted.

I have NOT preserved it as if it gets removed so does the quote.

Wrong again, if a post gets removed, quotes of that post by others remain see here for proof.

    Think before you post!
