Energy companies should supply customers with an annual statement showing the use of energy over year so we can compare energy prices more accurately.

Make Royal Mail deliver post earlier in the day. It's so unproductive to have post delivered either after you have gone to work or so late in the day if you work from home and rely on the post.

They managed fine for years so why are they unable to do this now?

Every bank account should come with a free nudie calendar of the tasty lasses that work on the counter and feature none of the munters.
I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven

The majority of people appreciate the services the BBC offers but many dislike paying for the licence fee. Whilst people shout scrap the licence fee and allow advertising, the British television media would be unlikely to survive if the BBC were allowed to advertise. So I'd suggest:

Scrap the licence fee and fund the BBC direct from government but allow the BBC to remain independent. This could be funded by cost savings within government.

I believe the BBC receives around £3.4bn a year (so dwarfed by the recent VAT cut). It's estimated that 5% of households avoid buying a licence anyway and all the money that goes into collecting the licence fee would be saved as well. Most households would save £142 a year. Surely an election winner if the law can be changed to allow this?

Bankruptcies should not have to be declared on applications after a set period (and be removed from the London Gazette and any other database not controlled by the government).

Bankrupts are not criminals yet they have to declare that they went bankrupt even many years after being discharged. Criminals do not have declare spent convictions on applications.

Scrap/reduce or at least review the duty, VAT and handling charge for importing goods by post - and allow the option to pay in advance and avoid the handling charge imposed by couriers (which sometimes can be as much as the taxes).

Importing an item from the US attracts ridiculous charges over and above the equivalent VAT charge. Yet at the same time, UK based companies avoid VAT by setting up offshore companies in the Channel Islands.

Increase the allowances for bringing goods back to the UK for personal goods.

£145 worth of goods isn't a high amount (one pair of designer jeans or sunglasses can cost that much). We pay taxes to leave and return to the UK and we use our taxed income to buy goods whilst we're away and pay taxes abroad!

EDIT: I've just checked the HMRC website following a tip from PixiePie and they have already increased the allowances to a more reasonable £340. That's better! More info here.

In addition to airlines giving the full cost of how much a ticket actually costs:

Airlines should be forced to disclose the taxes and additional charges on bookings

I recently bought a return flight to the US and paid over £200 in taxes, charges and surcharges. I'm unable to find out what these extra fees consist of and how they calculate them.

Prevent surcharges for using any debit card for online transactions

Where there is no alternative method to pay (such as paying in cash) the surcharge becomes a forced charge and therefore should be factored in to the cost. Debit cards do not incur a percentage fee and cost as little as a fee pence to process and not the £5 some online companies (airlines) are charging.

We shouldn't be forced to pay for a BT telephone line just to have a broadband connection.
