Opened an Alliance & Leicester EasyISA about a month ago in anticipation of my compensation, which finally landed in my current account today. But same story as everyone else - they told me only 3600 could be transferred in from my current account; my explanation about 'what about when I receive a certificate from my now defunct ISA provider, etc' seemed to fall on deaf/dumb ears. It's only been one of the biggest news stories of the past 6 weeks and she didn't seem to know what I was on about. And these people work FOR A BANK...
I can't understand why the wheels were not put in motion for the paperwork side of things by the FSCS weeks ago - why do we have to wait until December for our certificates?!
    Fingers/toes crossed...

The Abbey web site actually has a section devoted to ex IceSave ISAs - the bad news is that you have to wait for the certificate and their rates have gone down from today.

Still, the money is earning 5.8% in a BOS Instant Access Reward account which is better than nothing.

Write to Gordon Brown and tell him to get his finger out

More of a chance of hell freezing over than our clueless PM doing that :rotfl:

  • Rang FSCS today and apparantly they said they have been delayed sending the ISA certificates out because of the problems with people not getting 2nd emails. I couldn't get a definite date when they would be sending them out.
  • I just managed to get mine into a Halifax 1 Yr fixed rate before they dropped the rate on Monday. Have to say that thay were very helpful and that it didnt matter that I had not got my certificate yet as they will hold the interest rate for 30 days for me

The only thing that could scuper things is if I dont get the certificate within the 30 days - so I'm really hoping that this will happen.

When I applied this morning they assured me I had 60 days.....

I'm in no hurry to get my certificate as all the current isa deals at the moment are absolute rubbish. My advice is open a Tesco internet saver @ 6% gross and as a lower rate tax payer you'll get a very respectable 4.8%, if you're a non tax payer you'll be much better off than in an isa, and then just bide your time until you get you're cert. All the best deals only appear towards the end of the tax year anyway.

It's hard to imagine there'll be any good deals at the end of this tax year.
