The report states that the UK housing stock is worth £4 Trillion (£4,000 Billion). That means since January UK house values have decreased by a total of over £342,000,000,000!0
-
On an annual basis, house prices in June were 6.1% lower. UK average prices have returned to the level they were at in August 2006. The UK average price remains slightly higher (2%) than two years' ago, more than 10% higher than in June 2005 and almost 40% above that in June 2003.

By next month they won't even be able to roll out the 'Houses are still worth more than they were 2 years ago' nugget

So a further 29% drop for prices to go back to those of summer 2003.0

I think the reason why the figures were delayed is that it took them so long to write the bull***t about how it's not so bad. Perhaps Ellis and friends quickly booked on a creative writing course before producing the report. The interesting figure to me is the 6 month annualised decline at 16.3%.0

I am a member of a club that has some shares in HBOS (as a result of demutualisation). The treasurer had the rights issue form with him last night, so I know the forms are with the shareholders right now, with an imminent deadline. Maybe the figures were delayed for that reason, so shareholders who sent the form quicker were not spooked.Politics is not the art of the possible.
