My daughter had her purse stolen in a shoe shop in Oxford Street, a few weeks ago. The purse contained her driving licence, and two debit cards. She reported it to the police and banks. The driving licence was found on the tube a week or so later. Anyway last week a statement arrived for a store card with £400 on it. This…

How many cards is too many
Hi All, This is my first post here. Already implemented some of Martin's savings after reading his book. My question is I have a good credit rating (based on having never yet been refused an application) and wonder if there are any rules on the number of credit cards which should be exceeded at one time. I want to apply…

Egg Money Card Rip -Off?
When you take out an Egg money card you are quoted at 7.9% in E-mails, however this rises to 16.9% in the letter that you are sent when you receive the card. Then after you have activated the card you are sent an E-mail which raises the APR to a staggering 19.9%! Rip off or what?

Morgan Stanley Notice of Variation
My first post -- hello everyone! I've had a Morgan Stanley cashback card for many years, which has proven to be very convenient: unlike my other cards, with this one I truly get up to 56 days interest free, because I pay in full each month by direct debit on exactly the same day that my salary goes into my current account!…

Need a 0% card for a New Purchase
So, I've got a 1-off big purchase that I will be making in the next month or so, so I thought I'd take advantage of a 0% card to spread the payments out. The one with the longest 0% term is the Sainsbury's one:…

Will you give up your credit cards if......
1 - You are charged an annual fee even if you pay off the balance every month. 2 - If you realise you're using them too much and NOT managing to pay off the balance every month? Is it time to go back to pay-as-you-go for everything....or do without?

Vanquis Visa Card
I have just gone through a well-overdue 'opening of all my outstanding mail' ceremony. I'm a textbook case of the kind of person who needs a forum like this, spiralling debt and without the means to pay it all off. I'm pretty controlled in my lifestyle, I rarely go out and work as much as I can (as well as being a full…

Using visa for car hire & insurance protection
Hi, In the past i have always hired a card using my Natwest Visa card, I tend not to go for the insurance protector that is offered by so many of the car hire companies. In doing so I always run the risk of paying the excess fee should I have an accident or a little scratch on the car. An American colleague of mine told me…

Are credit cards evil, or just dangerous?
I hate defending credit card companies. It's like sticking up for used-car salesmen, or Congress. Saying anything nice makes you feel like a patsy, since their defects are so readily apparent. But in the debate over whether credit cards are inherently evil, I must proclaim myself an advocate for the purported devils. The…

AA Citi Bank Credit Card Flight Offer
Does anyone per chance have the MSE.com newsletter about the American Airlines/Citi Bank Credit Card offer. I thought I was entitled to more miles and just wanted to clarify the offer. It was mentioned in one of Martin's regular emails somewhere between Nov and dec last year. I have checked my email inbox but I must have…
