Inherited SIPP options
Having seen some excellent un-biased advice on financial matters on this forum, I wonder if any of the experts could offer some suggestions. A close friend approaching age 60 (Miss X) is going to inherit a SIPP in excess of £250k from her younger sister who recently died. So the pension will retain its Tax free status. I…

Life assurance - keep going or with or without indexation?
My OH has a life assurance policy taken out 30+ years ago. The intention at the time was to provide cash if the worst should happen to pay the mortgage/ support me while the kids were growing up etc. Now the mortgage is cleared and the kids are self sufficient. So its original purpose is no longer. However, it is in place…

Considerations for Post Retirement DC Fund: Please Help
Hi All, Appreciate advice is not possible on this forum, so instead I am looking for considered opinions on a suitable post-retirement fund in which to invest my current DC pension, after having taken the 25% tax free element. In summary, my situation is as follows: 62, recently retired through redundancy and living…

Financial Assistance Scheme
I received a letter today from the Financial Assistance Scheme. It seems to say that a law has been passed to allow interest on pensions from pre 1997. It seems strange to back date a law so far back. I don't recall many details about this old pension, I believe I got a small lump sum from a previous employers pension,…

Transferring a SIPP from one provider to another
How does this work. I have a Vanguard SIPP with money invested in a fund. I want to transfer the SIPP to T212 and I know the same fund is not avaliable in T212. There are similar funds. Are the funds in Vanguard sold and held as cash before the transfer and then new funds purchased when the Transfer is complete? Anyone…

Freetrade Basic - Sipp question
I transferred a SIPP to Freetrade from Vanguard containing just the Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap. (VAFTGAG) I assumed it was completly free in terms of platform charges (my reason for moving) but now have discovered that cash withdrawals are £240 a go. That's fine - I'll transfer it back to Vanguard when I want to start…

Any downsides to AJ Bell as a ‘one SIPP’ for retirement drawdown?
I currently have three DC pensions workplace pension - Royal london old frozen pension with Aviva that won’t let me consolidate as it has some benefits I can’t find out and anyway its only £18k (quite annoying honestly) SIPP with Fidelity currently I do partial transfer from RL to Fidelity which is where most of my funds…

True Potential redress offer
My wife and I moved our pensions to True Potential back in 2021, upon the (verbal only) advice of our IFA at the time. After a couple of years, I realised that this was a mistake and eventually moved everything over to a DIY platform and happily manage this all myself now. I didn't complain at the time, just wanted to move…

Beneficiary provider search
Hi, my brother is due to receive a beneficiary pension and as I have Power of Attorney for his finances I am looking for SIPP providers who would be willing/able to receive the pension and allow drawdown when he needs it. Does anyone know if there is somewhere I can get a list of providers that do this or any providers…

Check Your TPS Pension (More Maladministration at Teachers Pension Scheme)
If you are currently in receipt of a TPS pension, I would strongly advise you to check your most recent payslips. There is a big bug in their system meaning they have cocked-up how they've applied the latest Index-linked increase. In my case, their error has cost me over £15,000 pa, yet nobody at TPS is prepared to help…

Fixed term annuity
Good morning I am about to start drawing on the smallest of the three pension pots I have. I am currently 63 and out of work since redundancy last year. Generally, we are OK for money with 3.5 years to go until state pension age. I was about to move forward with an income drawdown arrangement on the smallest of my 3…

I am now in receipt of SP and DB totalling £22k. I have taken my TFLS from my SIPP to help fund a property project and the balance is about £270k. OH continues to work as she enjoys it. I am considering taking enough to utilise my BR tax band each year until the SIPP is cleared. Our estates will pay IHT. We have a French…

Fixed term annuity vs Drawdown
£375,000 pension pot converted to a fixed term annuity over 25 years = £ 28,800 a year. Drawdown approach at a 4% withdrawal rate = £15,000 a year. With decent cash pot invested in an ISA alongside this, What am i missing here? Is this a no brainer?

Pension Providers Supporting The "Small Pots" (£10k) rule
Does anyone know which providers will allow a payment under the small pots rule for a SIPP? I can see both AJ Bell and HL do - but is there anyone else who does?
