Has any readers here got this handset on Virgin mobile?
Someone I know has one and informs they cannot recieve MMS.
Searching the web, it looks like the Lumia's don't really support MMS The Virgin site informs "this handset does not support MMS
(this can't be right surely?)

  • Virgin do support the handset for MMS according to this page.

Sounds like some missing settings. If they have access to another micro sim (on a different network) they could try powering the phone on with that sim, checking the alternative network settings have loaded, then switching back to the virgin sim. This normally forces the original network settings to be reloaded properly.

If that doesn't work you could try the step by step guide on this thread.

I did a search Grumbler before posting, but I did put Lumia 610 hence why I did not find the thread, I was only asked today about the device, :o

This page suggests differently, I will get access to the handset on Saturday, so will try the settings adjustments via the Network Setup app :o

By the thread which was earlier Virgin don't support MMS

Bit strange being the phone supports it.

Even on the Nokia site it says it supports it

Think that might be because Windows Phone handsets don't support over the air (OTA) network settings. I could be wrong though.

Let us know how you get on!

Ah, that makes a bit of sense as to why the page shows that, will report back on Sunday, looks a nice handset, but the 256mb ram must be a killer :(

Just an update, got the mms working, thanks to the info on the page, however on top of that like the author suggested, send a pic to yourself to enable it, all good now and I've gone from zero to hero :o

I still found it was not working and upon ringing Virgin they told me my SIM was not yet MMS enabled. To do this, they told me to send a picture to myself. I did this and now it is all working - super!!

The Virgin site advertises the Lumia 610 as being able to send and receive multimedia messages but then you look at the settings page for this model and it says it doesn't support mms. We just bought two of these phones for Christmas and are very disappointed. I'm thinking of filing a complaint with the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) for false advertising.

It's just utter incompetence rather than false advertising - as the post above yours demonstrates.
