future kitchens

Hi, has any one bought a kitchen from future kitchens? is the product and service ok.

  • Yes, just trying to fit it. Delivery didn't match order, some damaged / mis-machined components unusable and some repacked pre-used components.
The price is cheap for a reason.
I sourced tops and appliances elsewhere, figured "how wrong can a few flat pack units be?". Quite wrong, as it turns out. All the stuff usually wrong is actually right - handles, hinges etc.

I'm just totting up for a phone call to customer service, will let you know but for now my advice would be don't use them.
  • UPDATE - rang the 0844 number (only one available) 4 times yesterday, all I get is "hello, how can I help?" ... no company ID or anything.... and I tried four different approaches including "my order is wrong", "I need some missing stuff", "I want to swap some wrongly sent stuff for correct items", "who do I talk to about problems with my order".
Each time the result was "Bear with me" and before I have a chance to speak am transferred to another supposed line that just rings out until cut off.

On the first call I was alarmed to notice that the woman on the other end appeared to know I was ringing about a kitchen that had already been delivered even though I hadn't said so yet. Number management, perhaps?

It's almost certain that this business operates on the principle of send whatever because it's C.O.D. so tough I'm debating calling down to the office address in person but have a kitchen to fit and limited time to do it. I'll post again.
  • Update - finally got through to customer services, and took the simplest approach that I hoped might produce a result: "please can you send my missing bridging unit doors?"
Initially I was told that they "don't do" a 1000 bridging door - presumably explaining the surplus 500 doors sent (2 per unit). No mention of this was made during the design / order process but in the interest of progress I let it go, after pointing out that this then left me short of handles.
I was then told, after a lengthy hold, that there were 2 x 600 doors on order and would be with me in 5-20 working days. Although there had been no mention of this on the delivery note or any other communication, I let it go so I could move on to request a missing 600 door. After an enormous delay on hold I was told that 4 x 600 doors had been ordered and sent. I replied that there were 5 on the plan so we spent another five minutes backwards and forwards as the woman on the other end didn't seem to get it. Eventually she suggested I send a postal order for £25 and they would order an additional door.
Remaining calm and polite, I explained that there were 2 carcases (keep it simple) to return and the credit would more than cover the cost of the door. It took several attempts for this to register but eventually she got it and she did, in fairness, check that I had sufficient handles.
I have been left anticipating the missing doors + handles in exchange for the unusable carcases in 5-20 working days. I'm not overly optimistic, but can manage to get a functioning kitchen together in the meantime so we'll wait and see.

The phone call lasted approx. 45 minutes, and when I offered to call down to Manchester to swap the goods I was told "there's nowhere to go to really". My best guess is that the firm uses 3rd party warehousing and this might account for the repackaged / returned units I was sent: if no process is in place for returns they may well go back into warehousing without being checked, then re-issued as new goods.

I'll update again when (if?) the goods arrive. Meantime, my advice would still be Buyer Beware. I was able to fabricate 2/3 of the units by re-drilling / exchanging parts between units/ sheer persistence. Most individual customers won't, and kitchen fitters will either reject them or charge additional time for making them work.

I picked up the replacement carcases I needed from B&Q (bank holiday) and the overall cost is much the same by the time you've added doors & handles. If you're considering a self-fit, it's much safer to go this direction as you get full instructions, the quality is similar plus you can return / swap anything that's not right without any aggro.

We have made an order with future kitchens/kitchens simply etc, paid the £100 "deposit" to the designer in cash, now having read this the panic is setting in, my plan is to check EVERYTHING on delivery with a fine tooth comb & if there is anything substantial missing or damaged then just refuse to pay, any advice on how i might fare with this approach?? or further beneficial advice?? Any input would be massively appreciated!! =)

Was pleasantly surprised to get a call on Friday from Future Kitchens (the lady introduced herself with the company name, not just "the kitchen company") to say an order was on its way for delivery Saturday, hopefully the anticipated missing doors.

On Saturday the carrier rang to say he had been held up and would now deliver Sunday, was generally polite and helpful.

Maybe it's not all doom and gloom but, yes, if you have time definitely open and check for damage / mismatched components, especially if there are repacked items. For e.g. one of the 1000 base units I received did not have end panels: instead there were 2 bottoms from 800 base units.

Unfortunately you won't be able to see mis-machined items until you try to assemble them: the cam pins and dowels need only be a few mm out and the back panel won't fit, rendering the cabinet useless. I resorted to re-drilling them.

Almost all kitchen deliveries from the companies we use at work (new build housing) arrive with bits missing or damaged so I wasn't expecting perfection from Future Kitchens - the single most infuriating aspect is the practical impossibility of getting hold of someone to sort issues out. A landline, much patience and an hour or so spare time is the starting point.
    Good luck!

Hi, just wanted to find out if anyone has had problems with missing or damaged kitchen bits from Future kitchens when they have taken the fitting option from the company and how it was resolved? Also can anyone comment on what the workmanship is like by their fitters?
    Thanks!

  • After my wife gave details on the website (not Future Kitchens). Came a company called "Future Kitchens" with a catalogue from other company. Asked for a deposit of £100, paid already. Checked this company just started for two months with office in Unit 32 M40 8BB, a 86 feet office. Is it 3rd party with some hidden supplier? Any one with their kitchens fitted by them? Should I go on to pay for the rest of the kitchen I ordered? Your answer will help us a lot.

After a day, a salesman from "Rock Solid Kitchen" called me said to come to design my kitchen. After reading the links below, we now know the web site my wife filled the details is fraudulent. All these Kitchen suppliers or fitters are scam. The way they filled the invoices, and the way they bragged, misleading and unprofesstional handle things on design etc. We decide not to go on and the £100 design free/deposit will not be recovered.

This teaches us a great lesson, but it could save us a few thousands if we DON'T go ahead.

This swindlers rip off mony of people with serious illness, people with babies to feed and many pensioner's money. No kitchen to cook food for weeks and months.

  • This company operates under several names, they used to be known as ROCK SOLID KITCHENS b4 watchdog exposed them. Now they operate under THE KITCHEN FACTORY, KITCHENS NOW, CHEAPEST KITCHENS, CHEAPEST KITCHENS IN THE WORLD. INSANELY PRICED KITCHENS, KITCHENS SIMPLY (confused with simply kitchens who are reputable), and a recent addition is FUTURE KITCHENS.

This will continue to evolve new names as long as the law is in their favour. Search on Internet for "Rock Solid Kitchens" and you will find what they did to their customers.
