  • I just wnted to update - I have advised this forum that Kitchens Uber are suing me for none payment, the latest is, I sent my defence to the courts which they received two weeks ago so I decided to ring to find out what the next steps were, the court advised me that I would not be hearing anything anytime soon as the cheque that kitchens uber sent to raise the court proceedings bounced, my view is that they use this as a scare tactic to which some vunerable people may find hard not to pay for fear of a court case, not me, I want it to go to court, this scumbag certainly needs sorting out. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. As I write this post I am currently having my new kitchen fitted, my fitter advised me to purchase my kichen from Howdens (he has to order it as it is a trade company only) I have to say I have not paid much more than I would have paid to kitchens uber, my kitchen looks like a dream is high quality. Just glad I was able to stop this fiasco before it started. I feel for all you guys out there who are in a mess because of them.

re. Howdens and your kitchen design: Did your fitter help you with the planning/layout of the kitchen as well as recommending howdens? I am trying to get quotes for a new kitchen myself. I know to avoid all these scam firms. I have heard of Howdens but of course can't go and browse a showroom as I would with B & Q for example.
  • Hi. My fitter aaranged for one of the designers to visit my home to see what I was looking for and measure up - NO CHARGE - he then went away drew up the plans and also did virtual layout so you could see exactly what you were getting. (obviously it will depend on where you live) They then price it up and send details to fitter who in turn quotes you - it happens this way as the general public cant order direct as its trade only, Matt would give you the price of the kitchen and you pay Howdens they put this into his account until delivery, Matt would then quote for the insatallation. I have to say the carcases all come ready assembled, all the doors, drawers etc are indidually boxed a far cry from how the kitchen was delivered from Kitchens uber and not one handle or hinge missing, says it all - if you drop me your e mail address I will send you Matts website, he has kitchen pictures on already of recent fits but he will be adding ours to this - I have to say my kitchen is almost complete its looking really smart I am very happy and as I said cost difference was not much. Even if you wanted to supply your own kitchen from B&Q or Wickes (who have take way kitchens) you could get a quote for installation only.

  • Hi, Yes,I also had a girl out from Howdens to design my kitchen. It's free even if I decide not to go ahead but of course I am as I can't look at this crime scene any longer!!!!! Would you believe that after 7 months of dodging me the dirty pigs namely Rachael, called me on Mon afternoon out of the blue to ask how my kitchen was & was there any problems I'd like to run through with her!!!Told her I didn't have that amount of time or energy &said to check records & she'd see exactly!!! "Oh-we haven't had any mail from you"-RACHAEL-YOU ROCKET! WHY THEN WERE YOU CALLING? DUHHHHH! She finished off after being very abrupt & vague about the address she was calling from (had to go find out where she was!!) by then saying "we can send you a matching kitchen without damages (must've taken it from someone else) providing you haven't had yours fitted!!!!W.T.F. Do they think I've been doing??? Bad enough without doors, drawers and handles but sorry I need water! Can't believe they're still advertising "solid wood kitchens"! Scumbags!!!! Karma's a weird old thing..................... <(^,^)>

So glad I found this thread. I was looking for a second hand kitchen, google brought up Kitchens Uber. I emailed, they phoned, started talking about liquidated stock which wasn't what I was expecting. But I thought it might be ok as then I can order exactly what I want. Stupidly arranged to have a salesman come round, luckily my OH was out so he didn't really want to deal with just me. He did say though that it really wasn't the liquidated stock, it was their own stuff manufactured in china. It looked ok, but I didn't get a good vibe to be honest.

Anyway I happily waved him off and did a bit more googling and found this thread. I won't be calling back to re-arrange the appointment ;)
