My Mum has signed up for broadband with Tiscali but everytime she goes on-line she keeps being disconnected. She has phoned them up & they keep saying that there isn't a problem, she's also phoned BT who have checked her line & thats ok.
Can any of you fab techie guys help out my poor old mum ?

try plugging the PC into the BT test socket direct (it eliminates the wiring in the house)
see here, page 2

if it works fine then you know its the extension wiringEx forum ambassador

Look,I hate to keep bleating on about this, but .....
DON'T ENTERTAIN TISCALI!!!!!
If you are about to sign up to them, take a tip from someone who's been there, and spend your hard earned elsewhere.
If you have a contract with them, then ditch it after it is up.
Tiscali will blame everyone else for their shoddy service but themselves.
I'm not being funny here, and I do hope your mum gets her connection sorted, but if anyone subscribes to Tiscali, and has problems, then they only have themselves to blame, because there are plenty of people out there on many forums, who tell you the same thing.....
TISCALI ARE CRAP.

Hi
If your using IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Connections. In Connections go to Settings, then to Properties, then to Options, and look for the Redial Options, and make sure that the Idle time before hanging up is set to Never and tick the Redial if line is dropped box.
Hope this helps
And I totally agree, Tiscali is the pits

Re-connection problems.
Are you using a Sagem modem?
If so chances are you need to update the driver software. Go to the Sagem web site and download the latest driver for your modem. This fixed the connection problems that I was experiencing.

This happened to me, it turns out the 2 white internet sockets they sent needed to be put in all phone sockets ( if you have more than 1 socket), this solved it for me after much annoyance & spending a fortune on tech support
. Anyways hope this helps, otherwise you have 14 days to cancel your contract if its not too late.
No one said it was gonna be easy!0
