Hi
Turned on my computer today and when it all booted up i was told that Norton Antivirus Auto Protect could not be loaded up and i would have to restart the computer or else i was not protected and would be open to viruses.
I restarted and got exactly the same, as soon as i try to enable the Auto Protect it just ignores my request and doesnt let me do it. I have run AdAware and SpyBot and got rid of everything and also run Norton Antivirus Full System Scan and it got rid of 4 problems but it will still not enable the protection. Anybody have any ideas? How do i get it to protect again?
Also, not sure if this is part of the same problem or what, every time i go on my emails or onto Ebay tonight and i try to log in it keeps on saying page is not avaliable, it is happening loads and loads tonight, on everything i want to go onto. Any ideas?

Have you activated it? What happens when you right click the icon near the clock?0 -
The ebay thing is that NAV is blocking that site,
Try This http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=410411684&tstart=0&mod=1104193853901
Auto Protect
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/19971211314560 -
When i click the icon next to the clock it just says Enable Auto Protect, when you click that nothing at all happens.
Mr Skint, i just went on the Auto Protect page you linked and followed the instructions. When it tells you to go onto the next document, i did that and it tells you it will search for virus or a worm and i click that it just does the same as on Ebay and Email, it goes to the Page Cannot Be Displayed Screen, nightmare0 -
Try disabling the Norton firewall, just for a bit..... DO NOT BROWSE FOR AGES
with the firewall down, if you dont feel happy doing this then DONT
Try the ebay page then re-activate firewall to see if that has an effect.

Nope, still no good. I have Norton Antivirus 2004 and the Anitvirus Subscription ran out on the 11/9 and i have not yet renewed it as i didnt know if it was worth doing it.
On the Norton page itself it says that it requires urgent attention. I have never had a problem before on websites or with Norton not automatically loading up, perhaps i have a virus, but i have checked everything and nothing has been found0 -
What are you checking your PC with if you havent got a fully subscribed
version of norton,,, I would Use AVG or Avast, and completely uninstall NAV0 -
I am checking with Norton, they let me scan but i cannot run their Live Update which is meant to keep me up to date with all the latest virueses that are avaliable or something like that0
-
I have just typed in AVG, is that the best 1 to get? It says that it is free for life as well, is that right?0

uninstall Norton completely the install a freebie like
AVG or Avast
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 AVG
Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
How to uninstall NAV http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/win/nav/uninstallnav.html
What Version of Norton do you have>????????0 -
Auto-Protect displays "Off"
Situation:
You have one or more of these problems: -- The Norton AntiVirus icon is no longer in the system tray or has a red X through it. -- Auto-Protect is not working -- When you start Norton AntiVirus, you see that Auto-Protect is "Off" and Email Scanning displays "Error." -- In Norton AntiVirus 2004 or 2005, Internet Worm Protection may also display "Error."
Try norton Knowledge Base it may help your problem..If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.0
