Norton Anitvirus Help Please

Thank you all so much, i have fixed it, took 7 hours and an absolute nightmare but it is finally letting me onto the websiters that are secure and my computer seems to have sped up by about 100%.
I finally managed to uninstall Norton using SymNRT, it took an age but i finally booted it off. Straight away all my problems went, nothing is wrong now. Strange that all that trouble came about due to Norton.
Thank you all, if it wasnt for you guys then this computer would be out of the window by now0 -
Norton sticks like a limpet. SymNRT is exactly the right tool for the job. Well done.
Just don't forget to make sure you have replacement protection in place.....especially antivirus and firewall. You can also load up the other apps. I mentioned in my last post, all free, for more portection.
One I didn't mention (which I also use) is ad-Aware SE Personal. Again free for personal use. It's here.....

Hi,
cheers for your advice mate, i use AD Aware and Spybot and the like, it was just that Norton that gave me all the trouble. It annoys me that i actually had to pay for the priviledge of having this on my computer as well. We live and learn i suppose.
I also now use AVG which would not work yesterday when i still had Norton on my computer, as soon as it was booted off AVG works without a problem. Excellent advice, thanks all0 -
Glad to help (don't forget the firewall as well as the AVG!).0

Turned on my computer today and when it all booted up i was told that Norton Antivirus Auto Protect could not be loaded up and i would have to restart the computer or else i was not protected and would be open to viruses.
I restarted and got exactly the same, as soon as i try to enable the Auto Protect it just ignores my request and doesnt let me do it. I have run AdAware and SpyBot and got rid of everything and also run Norton Antivirus Full System Scan and it got rid of 4 problems but it will still not enable the protection. Anybody have any ideas? How do i get it to protect again?
Also, not sure if this is part of the same problem or what, every time i go on my emails or onto Ebay tonight and i try to log in it keeps on saying page is not avaliable, it is happening loads and loads tonight, on everything i want to go onto. Any ideas?
Did you sort this out? I had exactly the same problem and know how to fix it0
