I have exactly the same problem as Rikki on the other thread that Mr Skint linked me to, i cannot access any site that is secure, my bank, amazon, ebay, credit cards, emails, nothing.

I am currently reading that thread, i have held back on uninstalling norton, i will focus on that problem later, i will sort this 1 first. The vast majority of posts tell me to check my firewall, silly question but where is it? My boyfriend usually deals with all things computer and he is away

If your having problems accessing amazon and your banks do the the following..

    98% sure this will work..
To open your comand promp Click Start, and then click Run. and type cmd and type the following.

    netsh int ip reset logfile.txt

After doing all this it reboots the computer.

    re-register the following .dll files:

    Softpub.dll
    Wintrust.dll
    Initpki.dll
    Dssenh.dll
    Rsaenh.dll
    Gpkcsp.dll
    Sccbase.dll
    Slbcsp.dll
    Cryptdlg.dll

To re-register these files, follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Run.

In the Open box, type one of the following commands, and then click OK (copy and paste is your best friend):

    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    regsvr32 wintrust.dll
    regsvr32 initpki.dll
    regsvr32 dssenh.dll
    regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
    regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
    regsvr32 sccbase.dll
    regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
    regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

Click OK when you receive the message that says
    DllRegisterServer in FileName succeeded.

Repeat for each command line listed above
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.

Refer to post 18, do that and try again..

I would suggest to uninstall firewall, but it seems you do not have them.

nav should not cause any problems as previous have suggested.

Try connecting to the windows update site, does it work or do you get error 0x80072EFD.

    BLIMEY !!!!
There seem to be an awful lot of people with Norton trouble! In another forum I visit, members come up with problems galore.

I must be one of the blessed one, un-techie as I am, because when I bought my laptop Norton was already on it for a three month trial. Then I was prompted to purchase the yearly kaboodle, which I did. Only had a small problem installing it but Norton advised me to uninstall previous version, which I did, and hey-ho all up and running and no problems.

I think computers are getting more and more like the more interesting among us. Temperamental, unpredictable and trendily attired. :D
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Well I have just sent off a request to Norton for some info and
whilst on my travels I found this...

Thanks again, i tried this but when i went onto it cookies are disabled as is the firewall. I also had a look at Windows Firewall which i never even knew i had on my computer and that too is disabled.

OK burbs....I am new to this thread. I don't want to confuse anything anyone else has said but I want to get a handle on what exactly is still wrong.

First off - Norton. It is probably the most popular antivirus and firewall on the planet so is going to have more problem users than others.

Personally, I fell out with Norton Internet Security big time a couple of years ago when it let through an infection it was supposed to be stopping.

I uninstalled Norton - like others here have suggested - and now run AVG version 7 for antivirus with Zonealarm for firewall. Other stuff too (MS Antispyware, Spywareblaster, SpywarwareGuard, IESpypad, Spybot S&D/resident Teatimer amongst others). They all work together to keep my systems free of baddies and they are all FREE.

    Just my personal experience.

Now....can you summrise for me exactly what troubles you are still having now. There are some thoughts knocking round my head but I can't put my finger on the ideal solution. That's why I'd like an update please if you can.
