I plan on doing a mid-year accounts 'survey' at the end of the month so I can assess the situation and plan ahead for the second half of the year.

I think this is a great idea, and I am going to do it too! It won't be pretty  but I am gonna do it!

Yes great idea - i may be brave and do it too!

Tiny milestone today - realised when DH gets paid on Friday his account will be in the black for the first time this year! Only by a few pounds but normally his wage isnt quite enough to clear his overdraft so we're always in negative figures. I've been paying the OD down by a few pounds every week but it was quite high at one point so i'm really happy with this. Onwards and downwards!
Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Total extra income made in Jan22 £109. 27 Feb 22 £45.25 Total extra income made in 2022 £154.52 Aiming for debt free at 45 - 41 months to go!

Spudsmum, well done with the overdraft situation, here's hoping that in another few months there won't be one needed at all. :) I still have the facility on my account 'just in case', but I have never needed to use it nor have I cancelled it. :)

Welcome back, Indigo, hope you enjoy your weekly get togethers with friend for chat and cuppa. It's always something to look forward to as a little treat when the world is conspiring against you. I've been doing similar here, altough it's more a case of friends coming here. I did manage to get away for an overnight last weekend, visiting friends for catch-up and then a night visiting family, so that made a lovely change, even if I had to brave the traffic and drive there.

Financial disasters seem to go hand-in-hand with socialising, I think it is the near complete loss of control of finances (or faculties, depending on the type of social occasion :-D)

Another sneaking in to start in July. I became debt free a few months ago and am looking to keep it that way. Ive been using YNAB for my budget since November which has made a huge difference but it is also highlighting where the money goes. Groceries is huge - averages over £250 a month and there is just me! That includes household stuff not just food but still...

So that is my first target - to get that down and stick within a fixed budget. Will start at £200 a month and go from there.

Welcome on board GlendaSugarBean, Mizmir and Jscarlisle, it's never too late to join in with our frugaling fun. I'll get your names added to the challenger list while you get acquainted with the place. :)

Final week of June, final week of the second quarter, final week of the first half...

Savings here have been going not too badly although, as always, they could be better. The frugal breaks caravan has been rented out regularly since Easter, so that all helps to keep on top of site fees, insurance and utilities. I advertised a last minute weekend on Facebook and someone was able to make the most of that. Next week sees the start of summer holidays so I need to try really hard to make everything financially self-sustainable.

Managed to make a raised planter for my strawberry runners and herbs so I just need a bag of compost to top that up and transplant more of the plants that are sitting about the greenhouse and then I can transplant the tomatoes and cucumbers we received from neighbours. :D Last weekend's garden centre bargains are all doing well, even the 29p ones. :D
