why are people still driving too fast?

In an age where petrol is getting more expensive & getting the best MPG seems to be the order of the day then why is it so many people are still driving too fast?! I bet these are the same people who complain when the price of petrol goes up?! I drive at speed limits in built up areas and seldom go over 50mph on motorways & duel carriageways? So why are so many idiots still bombing around for? If your late for work then too bad you should've got up earlier & planned better!:mad:

There's a bit of a sweeping generalisation. Personally I don't go quite as far as "50 on a motorway", but I do try my best to drive economically.
I suppose there are still a fair number of drivers on the road who aren't paying for their petrol ( as in salesmen or others who get it paid for by their employer, rather than stealing it ! ). And I reckon the sort of person that drives a 40 - or - 50 thousand pound car isn't overly concerned by the running costs. I may be wrong, of course ....0 -

not at all if everyone drove at 50 mph & if people left a good gap for the car in front then everyone would get to their destinations sooner & they'd be no accelerate/break chain reaction which causes traffic jams. I would say driving at 50mph on a dual carriageway or motorway is dangerous. It's practically driving without due care.0

This is true on congested motorways be not really generally. My commute to work takes about 1/2 hour on good clear days. It takes about 40 minutes when its raining, or dark. Why? because people are driving more slowly.0 -
