why are people still driving too fast?

I hope that post has more sarcasm in it than you hopefully intended (if you say yes now, you won't look like so much of a fool).
It's all cause and effect.
Car A = 50mph.
Car B = doing 65 mph in lane 1, pulls into lane 2
Car C = Doing 70mph in lane 2, pulls into lane 3.
Car D = 60mph in lane 1.
Car E = doing 65mpg in lane 2 but car D is doing 60 there so pulls into lane 3.
Car F = doing 70mph in lane 3 but has to break as car E is doing less.
Repeat to the factor of 100...there you go.0 -

Too fast in your opinion? Why is someone an idiot for driving faster than you? (which by the looks of your post, most people would be anyway; so are you saying everyone is an idiot?)0 -
Geordie_bear wrote: »I don't call anyone an idiot for driving up to 70mph when the traffic flow is less, that's not my point my point is idiots driving fast & breaking speed limits in built up areas or 50mph zones. Why are people doing this when the petrol prices are constantly increasing, why are people in such a hurry all the time maybe if you planned your journey better you wouldn't need to drive fast in the first place!0

Exactly, I always laugh at those who overtake me on a 60mph road when I'm doing 50mph & just 1 mile later I've caught them up at the lights? What was the point?:rotfl:0

There is no gap because the fool in Car A driving so slow in standard conditions has caused cars F to AJ to break in all 3 lanes, causing the M621 to back up from the White Rose to Leeds.Geordie_bear wrote: »my point my point is idiots driving fast & breaking speed limits in built up areas or 50mph zones
You're fighting a broken corner. You should have stated this in the OP as I fully agree with this...however, it's got more onto the more common congestion routes of motorways.
I am all for driving at lower speeds, lower emissions, lower costs, etc...but the majority of people do drive with common sense. Those who don't (too fast and too slow) make it worse for all of us. You're contributing to the downfall as much as Mr 80mph is.0 -
We all drive at different speeds. - after all you are driving at the speed that you choose.
I don't ever speed in built up areas, but most importantly, I drive with due care and attention.0 -
To actually answer the OP, and this may be a silly answer, but some people actually enjoy driving fast, though hopefully not excessively or over the limit.
"50mph" on a lot of cars is probably only 45mph if measured accurately.
I agree with fozzeh. Keep with the flow of traffic!0 -

So you're now admitting that you don't do the speed limits even on a normal road? I wish you could take your driving test again because if you did 50mph in a 60 zone you would have a fail on your hands....
Underspeeding if there is such a word causes a number of problems too....0 -

You have a completely different mindset to these people.
They overtook you because they felt frustrated at your 50mph and wanted to do their own speed/ or just enjoyed overtaking you.0 -
