Good morning,
4 AFD please.
Arkers x0 -
I found my tolerance dropped too. I can't believe that I used to get through a minimum of a bottle a night, every night and get up for work the following morning. I wasn't hungover and faced the day easily after a shower and a bit of slap. The drop in tolerance is what's made me find my stop button on the days I choose to drink. I can tell when I'm feeling a bit squiffy after a couple of glasses and switch to a hot or soft drink.

Yes it's amazing how tolerant you can become maman. In fact, I was one of the few people who didn't wake up feeling better when I hadn't drunk the night before!scatterbrain109 wrote: »Good afternoon, I've been signed off by the doctor for another 4 weeks. I was hoping to go back to work tomorrow. I'm worried that they will get used to doing without me . He says I don't seem to understand just how serious my condition is.

It sounds as though you should take their advice. Health first, everything else second.Honey_Bear wrote: »Sorry about your loss of tolerance, Green Karen. I don't think most people who give up drinking actually want to, but rather have it forced on them by one thing or another. I've said it before so I hope it's not overdoing it to say again that it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made, but the first few weeks were quite tough. Do-able, but tough. Life without it after a while was and continues to be much, much better. The very best of luck with it and if you've got any questions, just ask.
Apparently I'm not well and not likely to feel any better for about a week. I am mightily pi**ed off about it, as that will make it six weeks of feeling carp, a first for me. It's not as if I don't look after myself, either. Still, the upside is I lost 2kgs last week, another first.
6/31 please, Shaggy.
Thanks HB but part of me isn't ready to throw in the towel yet. In the most mad moments I have, I even think that i should go back to drinking as much as I was every night again, just so I can drink again! But that is true madness. I just haven't got my head around not ever drinking again.
Hope you're better soon!
Calling in early with 6/20 AF tonight please.0 -

Sorry to hear your cold drags on HB. There seems to be a particular strain around this year that lasts for weeks.I think my tolerance has dropped, but sadly my greed hasn't , I do hope one day to be free of alcohol all together , as I'm a kind off 'all or nothing ' person ,!
I know that feeling well. It's why having AF days suits me. I find it easier to take a decision to have nothing than set a limit. My DH can have a couple of small glasses most days and stop. I feel miserable if I know that I have to limit myself. Because of the drop in tolerance I don't drink huge amounts on drinking days but I like to think I can if I want to. Does that make sense?:o
No drinking planned today.
6 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
I've realized a completely useless thing. You know on the MSE site when you go to your control panel to (say) update your signature and among other things it shows all the threads you subscribe to. It shows the name of the thread, the newest poster, the number of replies and the number of views. This morning I accidentally pressed on the number of replies and a panel appeared showing everyone on this thread and how many times they have posted, in descending order. So I can see shaggydoo has posted 1,975 times, Honey Bear 977 and Barny1979 927. I'm actually seventh in the list with 489! That surprises me because I thought I had joined this thread quite late on, though I guess I do post most days. I'm quite chuffed about it though, I feel it somehow has to be a good thing. Anyway, as I say, it's completely useless information, in a good way though. In April I am taking a break from buying: Books

Afternoon :hello:
Life has been throwing lemons at a close family member here in RL - not the worst sort to do with illness - just relationship crap. One of those when a couple splits up and it's the last thing everyone seen coming and it all seems so sad.
So, anyways sorry I haven't been around.
