Afternoon all, 4/21 for me please.
  • Good afternoon, I've been signed off by the doctor for another 4 weeks. I was hoping to go back to work tomorrow. I'm worried that they will get used to doing without me . He says I don't seem to understand just how serious my condition is.
To be honest I probably don't so I am hoping for an appointment with occupational health later this week and perhaps they can explain. I felt a bit stupid asking the doctor!
I wasn't AF yesterday (planned) but I am today and planning to be for the rest of the week. I will update on a daily basis.

    4/25 please Shaggydoo

    4/20 AF tonight please.

Had a surprising revelation about alcohol recently . After managing to put away quite a bit of wine most nights for many years, now I have cut right back, I find I am completely intolerant of it. I had about half a bottle last Friday then 2 glasses of wine Friday just gone and both morning afters, woke with a horrendous hangover.

I have had times in the past that I have cut down before but this has never happened. I had never made any plans to give up completely, but I now feel this is the only course for me.

Sorry about you loss HB, I had a sad meeting this afternoon when I went to collect a dog we are fostering and the owner has terminal cancer, hence giving up the dog. She is only 29 years old with a young son. Was very sobering.

Sorry about your loss of tolerance, Green Karen. I don't think most people who give up drinking actually want to, but rather have it forced on them by one thing or another. I've said it before so I hope it's not overdoing it to say again that it's been one of the best decisions I've ever made, but the first few weeks were quite tough. Do-able, but tough. Life without it after a while was and continues to be much, much better. The very best of luck with it and if you've got any questions, just ask.

I hope the fostering goes well. I can't even begin to imagine how meeting someone in the dog owner's position would feel, but at least you've been able to do something practical and helpful for her.

If I've missed something I apologise, Scatterbrain. I really hope whatever it is that ails you heals more quickly than your doctor thinks.

Apparently I'm not well and not likely to feel any better for about a week. I am mightily pi**ed off about it, as that will make it six weeks of feeling carp, a first for me. It's not as if I don't look after myself, either. Still, the upside is I lost 2kgs last week, another first.

    6/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

I think my tolerance has dropped, but sadly my greed hasn't , I do hope one day to be free of alcohol all together , as I'm a kind off 'all or nothing ' person ,!
