Would you consider boiler rental ?

We desperately need a new boiler.
Unfortunately we're not in a position to purchase one outright and, have it fitted etc.

I came across a company called " Everlasting boilers ".

I rang for general info.
Currently half price rental of £ 4.44 a week for the first 3 months and then this doubles. All servicing, 24 hour callouts etc are included. The option of upgrading to a new boiler after 9 years.
Should you sell your property then you can purchase the boiler on an age pro rata basis or pass on the rental to the new owners should they want to accept. The latter I doubt as I personally wouldn't want to.
They come out to do a free no obligation assessment. They can also install within 24 - 48 hours.
There's no credit check.

My husband's not so sure.
Our boiler's beyond repair and currently only heating our home.
Boiling pans and kettles are becoming a nightmare.

I'd love to know your thoughts on this or if you've heard of this company or if anyone on this board is renting a boiler.

The website is all very, well, "loose". I see no terms & conditions. What stops the supplier changing the rental cost?

What if they go bust? I guess the administrator will be in to take back the boiler :eek:

I would suggest you get a loan to buy a boiler outright

Maybe that's a reason as to why my OH was sceptical.

If your boiler is able to heat your home, it doesn't sound like its broken at all, let alone beyond repair.

You just need it to heat your water too, which may be something as simple as a stuck valve.

Who told you it was beyond repair? Make and model would help.
If it lasts say 10 years you would have paid about £4,600-utterly ludicrous.

google helplink..... they do a 10yr plan @ £17 pm.
though if you move within 10yrs i believe you still continue to pay. also think there is around a £400 deposit.

Having had a Helplink 'surveyor' to our house I wouldn't trust them to turn a tap on, never mind fit a boiler.

If it comes with a full coverplan, what would that be worth?

Say £200 a year; which would equate to £2000 of the £4600
Add in the fact that there's no upfront cost, and the cost of a full boiler installation and you probably wouldn't be far off the same price. :cool:

What happened to energetix?, ever since I bought a good chunk of shares they have gone very quiet though they may still be trialling. Their business plan is subsidised by one of the big 6 to install a free microgen chp boiler but tied into a fixed energy tariff for a given period of time at a rate tied just below their standard rate tariff.

Would you consider boiler rental ?
