Tesla have been assembling in NL since 2013.
    Hi

However, considering that for the past 6 months-or-so we've almost exclusively been discussing the ramping-up of Model 3 production to what would effectively become a high volume vehicle by any standards, why do we really need to consider a plant that is effectively satisfying the equivalent of a specialist sector manufacturer's production volumes ? ....

I'm pretty sure that you're aware of the substantial technical & logistical issues that differentiate repetitive high volume manufacturing and low volume production .... If the goal of 5000 cars/week, moving to 10k in the US, then expanding into large scale production in Asia & Europe over the next few years proves successful, then, as previously mentioned, Tesla could be a top 20 ranking automotive volume manufacturer building similar volume to the likes of Mazda in the not too distant future ... that's some growth path, but it's certainly being encouraged by numerous governments clamouring to attract the marque with generous incentives to invest!

Another review of the Jaguar I-Pace that seems to suggest that it's a very good car. Even suggestions that for some (depending on what they want) it may be a better fit than the Tesla X.

Competition will only drive the market forward, so sounds like good news all round.

Jaguar I-PACE Is A Compelling Electric Car (#CleanTechnica Review)
A few years ago, Elon Musk told the world he welcomed competition from other companies. In fact, he begged them to build “compelling electric cars.” The Jaguar I-PACE is a compelling electric car. It is faster, sexier, and more sophisticated than any gas-powered premium SUV on the market. But is it better than the Tesla Model X? That’s a question we will examine in detail below.

This looks like a clever idea. Tidy, as they say down here.

That isn't that surprising. The Jag is a lot smaller than the Tesla and probably better value for money.

we'll all just have to accept that the rise of EVs as the future form of personal transport is happening, stop playing the part of Canute hoping to avoid the inevitable, and get used to it! ...

Let's hope it doesn't offer too much VFM, as it'll become popular, then have high demand, and therefore result in pages of negativity from Ade.

But on a more serious note, if it doesn't match the X, and therefore offers a slightly different package, then that'll help the market with greater range and choice.

    Looking good.

I know you find reading what I actually write quite difficult, not least because it tends to go against your firmly entrenched preconceptions, so let me restate...

What I object to is unsubstantiated hype. No more than that.

Actually that's not true at all. You've made many, many criticisms of Tesla for having a large demand for their cars.
