8 - Maximum data rate: 484/992
9 - Noise margin: 8.3/7.3
10 - Line attenuation: 28.1/53.5
Your line attenuation has risen post-fix (not good, means reduced max speed) and your snrm hasn't had time to settle yet - if the line's stable DLM can take up to a couple of weeks to settle down, so it's a bit early, unfortunately, to try and force the issue.
Patience and lots of monitoring line stats over the next couple of weeks....
Many thanks, but these are the stats from 25th Sept ....
I have asked JL to send an OR engineer to 'mend it' - is that going to be a waste of time?
We are away from home till Monday, so can't test again.0 -
JL Just phoned.
Because we are below their minimum guaranteed speed of 1.5, they are sending a 'broadband engineer' on Monday ...

Monday now swapped to Thursday!
Guy came and seemed to want me to go to FTTP (coz that's what he does mainly )
FTTC is not available here - too far from exchange I reckon.
Anyway - speed has risen to about 1.5 meg which is about half of what we were getting a month ago
Router stats here ...
5 - Mode ADSL
6 - Uptime: 1 days 05:33:05
7 - Data rate: 368/1583
8 - Maximum data rate: 576/1556
9 - Noise margin: 8.3/8.5
10 - Line attenuation: 25.1/50.0
12 - Data sent/received: 2.0G/1.8G0 -
Sorry - dragging this up again.
Same OR guy came yesterday banging on about being too far from the exchange, best he can do, FTTP is the way forward (I told him I had a quote for 16K!!!)
Then, he lowered the SNR from 9 to 6 and the speed seems better.
Having stumbled on with 1Mbps for about 6 weeks now, we are back to the dizzy heights of 2.5 :rotfl:
Router stats
7 - Data rate: 420/2857
8 - Maximum data rate: 780/2840
9 - Noise margin: 4.9/5.3
10 - Line attenuation: 24.9/49.5
12 - Data sent/received: 101.2M/1.3G
Will this be OK, or will it fall over eventually?0 -
6dB is standard SNRM ... lower SNRM = higher speeds, at the potential expense of line stability.
When I was with BE (several years ago, before Sky bought them) I used to get 17-18 meg on 6dB ... I could tune it down to 3dB and reach 21 meg but the stability was a bit of an issue. (Theoretical max on ADSL2+ is 24 meg).0 -

Agree with this - I ran my (very stable) ADSL line for years at 2.5dB, squeezed 6.5 meg out of a 48dB line
JB - you need to see how stable the line is now, fingers crossed it lasts.........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Latest router stats - looks like the snr has dropped, has it?
