Latest router stats - looks like the snr has dropped, has it?

    6 - Uptime: 1 days 13:41:47

    7 - Data rate: 420/2857

    8 - Maximum data rate: 780/2428

    9 - Noise margin: 4.3/3.4

    10 - Line attenuation: 24.9/49.5

Yes, it has....BTOR were trialling 3dB profiles a while back, so what you're seeing may not be an indication of instability - to the contrary, it could be a good sign....keep monitoring it :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

That might be why you were on a 9dB target SNRM previously - sacrificing speed for stability. If you want the higher speed then you'll just have to accept that you may lose the connection occasionally.

Yes, but two months ago we managed to 'stabilise' at about 3Mbps but then had a crackle on the line which has messed everything up ever since!
    :(

You've still got an intermittent line issue there...always the worst type of fault to find and rectify properly....get back onto your ISP. When OR guy comes round next, be sure to tell him about the initial problem and subsequent issues, with speeds etc.

Will certainly contact ISP, but we need a 'broadband engineer' and I'm not sure how many there are in our town.
Sadly the one who has been both times thinks that we are too far from the exchange to get decent speed ... despite me telling me that we've been reasonably content with our 2.5Mbps over the last 8/10 years!!!

You know the situation ... someone who is obviously better qualified to fix the problem than me, but won't listen to what I tell him, because he knows better!!!
