Well I was lucky, I just went and stayed at my parents, but what if you did not have that option, not great really. Oh and the person I spoke to told me that 6 days time was the first appointment they could give me! Even 24 hours is too long when you are 8 months pregnant with SPD and a hubby in a sandy place!

Never mind it is sorted now, even if they did ignore my snottogram!

This should be brought to the attention of the DHE ect, but asbestos in houses and schools and the like is not uncommon, it was used greatly back in the 40's 50'and 60's there are basicaly two types of asbestos, although neither is good news, one is worse than the other, however asbestos is relatively safe as long as its left alone, and if its painted over, thats even better, it only becomes a real hazard if people start ragging in around and ripping it out, without the correct PPE and equipment, not nice to have around we know, but if its to be removed, it has to be done by aspecialist company and disposed of accordingly..

DHE have open access to the joint Asbestos Register, which contains all findings.

The lowest grade no longer requires such rigarous removal but a risk assessment, PPE and method statement is required. Disposal is still treated as high risk.

MHS - a joke!

Yet again we had to report a couple of problems. We should not have been surprised though. My husband waited 6 hours for the towel rail to be replaced and someone to change something on the boiler. Eventualy someone turns up and says 'yes, the towel rail is broken' (as reported) but didnt bring a new one!! so he has to go away and come back. A couple of hours later the boiler man turns up.(2 hors after the alloted time!) and says 'yes, it is broken as you stated, but I didnt bring anything to fix it'. So now my husband has to take more time off on Thursday for him to come back with the part.
This is fustrating and a total and utter waste of time and money.
When will they ever get it right!!!!

your not at RAF scampton are you? thats were we are and got that stupid metal double glazing. in fact in the bathroom one of the windows has a gap betwneen the frame and wall. we are moving on friday to a better house due to expecting our baby in 12 weeks and will be happy to have a warmer house. but let them try to charge me for the gap. its obvious its movement and paint wont cover it.

does anyone know how much the charge is for a broken towel rail? i broke it when in labour and couldnt replace it myself thanks to the amount of paint over it. thanks

MHS wont charge DE - its a response maintenance issue. Phone it through and get an MHS ref number ahead of MO. On the Schedule of rates I believe it isnt any more than £40 (mine are in the vehicle outside and around the corner - I'll look next time I am there). DE will levy an 'admin charge' on top of this. This is entirely at the discretion of the Housing Officer.

If at move out they attempt to charge IPTL25 would be the document to quote - this is where disputes on payments for works at Move Out have been pre-agreed between DE and MHS as to who pays for it. eg - a damaged door - some with fist holes , or even a missing door - is not chargeable to DE. BUT - if a lightbulb is missing it is chargeable to DE/Occupant - Please make sure you have bulbs in place as you dont want to know how much they work out at as a chargeable element. I wont say I agree with the agreements in IPTL25 but it makes life easier when carrying out a mve out without having in depth discussions or arguements between HO and MHS.
