When a toddler, Isaac insisted, absolutely insisted, on wearing bright red dungarees with a bright orange top. I felt like pinning a sign on his back saying, "HE CHOSE THESE. I DIDN'T"...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

You could say, "Clothes maketh the girl so it is better to look like a princess than a chav."
Issa my fave post.
Our wee lass wore fairy, princess, mermaid outfits everywhere, even to nursery The nursery encouraged it, they called her a free spirit and said no one should ever try to crush it.
I once persuaded her to wear a uniform dress, as many of the other girls did ~ she would only do so backwards, as she didn't like the buttons. Lots of smiles and the odd chuckle, but no one batted an eyelid because they were used to her wackiness. During winter time, I just put trousers on under her frock, as she hated, and still does (6 yrs) trousers ~ 'boys wear trousers, girls wear frocks.'
Let your little one enjoy the freedom of childhood, when she doesn't care what others think and is free to wear what she likes without even considering the possibility of ridicule. All too soon an she'll be wanting to fit in.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

Actually, so long as he's dry and comfortable, I don't really care what he wears. Except with that particular combination, you could hear him coming, the colours were so loud (-:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

How wondeful that she has a dress she loves so much. How nice to have a little girl dressing like a child instead of a half naked chav.
Let the moaning minnies moan and let her enjoy her childhood.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

Anytime you are in a conversation with more thn one mum, pat the nearest one and loudly inform her that her child will have an imagination too someday. They just all move at different paces.
This made me chuckle from wageslave. Don't let the mother gang make you paranoid!:pBut if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
My daughter loves her princess stuff and I just let her wear it and don't care what anyone else thinks. She's been out shopping in weird stuff before like a pretty floral print sun dress and purple wellies.
We had a little boy in playing the other day and when his Mam came to collect him, he was dressed in Sleeping Beauty's pink dress with a tiara and a wand. His Mam just said "errrrmmmm okay" and cracked up laughing :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
My children are known for living in dressing up outfits. My daughter often went to nursery in princess dresses now she likes to wear party dresses to play in the garden. Anything kept for best has to be hidden away for a short while. The bridesmaid dress she worn to my sisters wedding 2 years ago is a favourite for playing out in, she's worn it to two weddings and several parties so now getting my moneys worth as playing out wear. :rotfl:Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait
