I got a real bargain in tescos yesterday - some reduced lamb chops. I duely purchased them and want to have one for tea tomorrow night - but I have no idea what to do with them. Can you suggest anything? I have most storcupboard ingredients and i am cooking for one.

Really really boring here
I'm the only one that likes lamb chops in this family so I only have them when hubby's working in the evening and the kids are in bed. I just grill them so that they're brown and crispy down the edges but slightly pink inside... and have them with new potatoes, steamed broccoli (with butter on both) and mint sauce.
It's one of my favourite meals and because I'm on my own I can pick the chops up in my fingers and bite them...... resulting in a greasy face and greasy fingersJust run, run and keep on running!0 -
take 101 of your fav store cupboard spices and rub them all into the chops. GRILL not fry(!) until done. Serve with salad and jacket potatoCome to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0

grilling sounds like the best plan then! I even have mint sauce in teh storecupboard! Just wondered if there were any recommended alternatives. The other chops are now in freezer awaiting my nest dash of inspiration.
Just wondered - can anyone explain the benefits of grilling chops over frying or oven cooking for that matter?r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Chops are really tender so cooking in the oven will probably over cook them. Frying might work but grilling gives them an even cooking and allows you to get the fat browned on the outside while keeping the inside moist. Also they're quite fatty so grilling allows that to drain away.
I cook chops on a moderate to high heat and have the grillpan in the middle. They tend to spit and cause mini fireworks inside the oven which can produce smoke so keep the window/door open and keep your ears open for the smoke alarm going offJust run, run and keep on running!0 -
i think its just healthier and tastes better. Chops have enough of their own fat not too need a bath in more hot oils and fats. grilling allows some fat to drip off too. (Im into 'low fat' as you can tell!)Come to my garden in South Bucks and i'll find you a wasp...0

thanks guys - great advice. Got back into my mse and home cooking again. Thought i was pretty good at the whole HM malarky until i discovered all these new types of meat! I know I like them and I have eaten them lots before, just never cooked them myself! Well I can look at it as another string to my bow!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0

I am going to make 2 cooked dinner's using 4 lamb chops, broccoli, carrots, new potatoes, and runner beans.
I have made this meal quite a few times and its always been quite nice but with your help I know it could be better, so any idea's would be really appreciated.
I am just starting to get more interested in cooking but at the moment my knowledge is pretty basic so I need all the help I can get. Thanks
PS I live alone the other dinner is for tomorrow or I may freeze it and I am a man.Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Kind of depends on the sort of advice you hope to find!
You could use herbs to sparkle ip the lamb..... mint and rosemary together work well, as does adding rosemary to some mint sauce before cooking the lamb...
another trick is to finely slice some garlic and 'stab' (cannot think of a better word...) it into your chops before cooking.....
or I'm sure you could use those ingredients to make a tasty stew or casserole.....0 -
Tell us what you would do with it without any outside advice. I'm guessing grill the chops and boil / steam the veggies.:D
I am struggling to imagine that something like that would nice kept for 24 hours (or frozen)0
