Hello, i havent been around very much recently but i have had some wins recently which i am pleased with.
    Minimise
We had been renovating a house and had the remainder of our furniture and boxes of stuff delivered a couple of weeks ago. Wow, that was overwhelming! Having lived with much much less for a couple of years as we renovated and were “camping “ it has been a shock, but alo meant i have sent 4 boxes of books and crockery straight to the charity shop, and todays foray has brought forth 2 more boxes of books and another couple of boxes of bits and bobs.
Shocking how much stuff i had, and dont need, we were lucky that we hadn’t been paying for storage. I hust need to persuade OH to look through his things!

    Mend
I have finally repaired a fabric basket which i have had for a while but not used because the velcro that held it to the frame had come off. All fixed with only 10 mins pinning and sewing.

Been busy last week since purchasing an old writing bureau, I am supposed to be upcycling. got it I to my head to see how much I can fit in it appropriately. I am still working on downsizing clerical stuff!! since being here for 4 years now its still work in progress. I have managed to clear a shelf in the living room which goes across a 5foot alcove.( There were 3 when we moved in) so are now down to 1:T. This now looks a lot more calmer. ;) The upcycle will have to wait for now.;) I would consider that a bit of minimise and make do for now.

Enjoy the rest of the summer team:beer:

Cut off feet of girl's tights to make leggings.
Threw out (ragbag) two pairs of girl's tights, deciding they had too many holes even for me to mend.
Mended three socks (mine), which means I now have enough pairs to last two weeks. Good, I was thinking I had to buy new ones, but won't need to just now.
Took handful of sngle socks to my parents, for them to match to their singles. We spend a week at eachother's place every six weeks, so our laundry gets mixed occasionally.
Mended a hole in dd1's cardi.
    Mended two of dh's boxershorts.

I have started a new job on Monday, and hope to minimize me a little bit. Not much, it's just that my clothes are getting a bit tight. I will bring my snacks for the whole week on Monday, drink lots of water and tea, and take the stairs whenever I can. My new commute has about twenty minutes brisk walk (going to the busstop on both ends). I'm 11st5 now, and would like to be no more than 10st12; I'm 6".

Mended a hole in dd2's tights, dd1's sweater sleeve, husband's longsleeve, a washnet.

Husband took out a sandwich bag of frozen, sliced carrot, only used a quarter in the peanut sauce he was making and then left the bag on the kitchen surface, so I made a carrot soup with the carrots, some pepper, leftover gravy, and half a leftover onion. It's very tasty :)

Back on the MMM trail again - I seem to drop off in summer, perhaps due to holidays and wanting to be outside when the weather is nice. :D De-cluttering for me is definitely a cooler weather thing.

Make Do: The usual using-up of bits from the fridge and most of this week's meals coming from freezer/stores.

Mend: Our glass vinegar bottle has an annoying habit of leaking from the threads of the screw-on lid so DH did a mend today by wrapping some plumber's tape around the top of the bottle and then replacing the lid. It works a treat.

    Minimise:
I have lots of small oddments of wool to use up (most of it came as freebies with knitting magazines) so I've gathered them all together and am knitting a throw with them. Nothing elaborate, just garter stitch strips - knit with one colour until it's finished, then join in a new colour and so on, then sew the strips together. It will be a (very) multi-coloured affair :D but it's good TV knitting. Weighed them and there's a total of 760g of yarn!

Made a start on clearing out unwanted paperwork and have shredded quite a bit today, but there's more to go. I thought I was pretty good at keeping it to a minimum so I'm puzzled as to where it comes from! :o'

Another bag of unwanteds ready to take to the CS later this week - mainly bric a brac and a couple of paperbacks.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.

Thank you Mrs SD. I've been awol too - summer is quite a busy time what with gardening and making the most of any good weather.
Dinner last night was the remains of Sunday's roast chicken but I did do a fresh lot of roasties as they never seem to be as nice if they're re-heated.
Housework & clearing up today & trying to minimise 'stuff'.
Dinner tonight will be YS meatballs & I'll do a nice tomato sauce and pasta.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Mended: husband's winter hat, dd1's youthclub T-shirt, dd1's tights, hid some thread-ends that had come undone on dd2's cardi that was knitted by my Mum.

Slowly working my way through the mending pile......

  • Make Do & Minimise: Food from the freezer; extra bricks from the front path & patio build have been utilised to build a low wall around garden bed; used up all our compost & top soil to fill the garden bed (unfortunately still need more )

Mend: Button sewn on DSis’s trousers
