I threaded it all up ok as far as I could see but it just keep getting tangled and not picking up from the bottom. But as you say could be the needle as well. Calley x

It might also be the thread you're using that's causing the problem. I've found it a false economy to use cheap threads and always use Gutermann. Bit more expensive, but well worth it.

I am lucky I have a place about 7 miles away that sells and services them. So will give them a call.

I bought some jeans needles for about £3 including p + p on line from sewandso.co.uk used them in the past for cross stitch stuff.

I've bought from sew and sew for years . I'm a fellow cross stitcher and buy other sewing needs too.

I agree with Yorks Lass cheap sewing threads are false economy. I match my threads to the type of fabrics so if I'm using cotton fabric I buy cotton thread rather than synthetic. Good luck Calley . Wishing you happy sewing.

I have some of the gutermann, but as I wanted blue i had some other reel, no idea what brand. And it could be years old as well.

Will get some more from somewhere.

    Morning Peeps,
I found some iron cleaner deep in the back of under the sink and deciding to make do and use it up... well after nearly killing off my steam iron the other week due to not having descaled it for 3 years!! have managed a mend with thanks from hubby. I have never in my life descaled an iron, probably due to living in a good water area. Which now I realise, even though I am still in same county this water ain't that good. Having thought I had melted the insides:eek: lots of black sticky stuff that also stained the sole plate. I dumped the iron in the bin..:o. thinking about it before the bin lads came to collect the following day I had a change of mind and retrieved said iron from our bin. got good support from Sw@n but didn't take them up on offer of sending back as was out of warranty. in the mean time I had purchased a very basic steam iron for under £15. OH said he would clean my iron plate. fetched it back from his cave and hey away we go, more steam than I can cope with.:T:T:T

    have a good day

I'm quite pleased with a recent mend. A lovely comfy white summer smock which I had previously mended a rip in the front of had now got some stains which would not wash out, this is why I rarely buy white clothes now !! Anyway, I had noticed the latest trend for patchwork and patches on clothes so I now have a white smock with assorted floral patches randomly placed over stains and the mend. I'm really pleased with it. I had loads of little off cuts from other sewing projects .

I have also altered a badly fitting dress so I now feel happy to wear it to a graduation instead of buying something new .

Current project is using up more patchwork scraps and an old curtain to make a big bag.

Well done with the iron Scratter and you too with the patchwork Oyster
Not doing much with the MMMing here lately. Kitchen being fitted next week so hopefully I'll have a working hob and oven. Good job we've been having nice weather as lots of salad! We have been good and only eaten out twice in the last month (kitchen gutted and then needed plastering) and one of those was for our wedding anniversary ;) I'm actually missing cooking - who'd a thought it!!! I have been stocking up the freezer though with fruit from the garden & starting to play tetris, hopefully with the new oven that will reduce some.
