:eek:Thankfully it looks like most of the 1p items are no gone of the shelves by the sound of it.
i say thankfully as it is a long story, and technically not a tesco grabbit but a gazzarh grabbit problem i have.
who is the best person to speak to here as i have a tale to tell which at this moment in time i dont want to post publicly and draw attention to mse so would like to know from a wise head where i stand regarding tesco and searching for these 1p and other stuff and being accosted by members of staff hence the gazzarh grabbit.

I just got in from Tesco Extra in Hexham. Got 5 lots of coffee (loads left) 5 pairs of socks (dozens of pairs left) and the last 2 remaining head and shoulders. I went through the normal check out and the sales assistant started off really friendly, but got grumpier and grumpier and called the supervisor over twice! The supervisor said it was Tesco policy to 'sell it as the price it goes through at the tills' - thought that was interesting!
A bit embarrassing as everyone in the queue was staring, will definately go through the self scans from now on.
Thanks op for starting this thread!

    Hels :T
Don't we wish we had that in writing!!!

    Ooooh do tell!
Not sure of the best person to have advice from, I think Tesco are pretty rubbish with CS in most matters even when complaining about how you've been treated by staff. They don't care.

got banned from tesco tonight surrounded by 5 to 6 staff and asked loads of questions, then got accused of being a thief (malpractice they call it). not sure if specific store ban or all over as they said they would be sending my cctv picture round to all stores.

  • Gazaarh, thats such a cryptic post, got me very curious now! I think most of the 1ps have had it, at least where I am, visited 3 stores and have 'only' been able to get Cuponks in two stores and Head and Shoulders in one. Thanks OP for Cuponks, have sorted lots of xmas presents and got some for other family members who buy for children :-)

Interestingly, in one store there was no self-scan but asked a young guy to scan Head and Shoulders with his handheld scanner and he said 'Thats never coming up at 1p' to which I said 'Thats what I expected I just wanted to check' and he said 'dont blame you'. So if there is a Tescos staff code it doesnt filter down to the floor staff....!! I have been nervous going through self-scan but always had busy people and don't find they hang around customers up here in the north anyway - never had anyone watching closely, however I kept having to reassure myself that i was not a thief and this is no more a good deal than the glitches and DTD's we share. I am such a guilty person though (despite been a Business teacher lol) , I guess I am concerned that this makes Tesco a 'loss', however once they've gone to 1p they've already commited to a loss??? I would love to know where this stock goes, whether staff do get pickings before charity or if its sold onto discount shops ie B&M, Home Bargains etc.?
  • I picked up set of two winter woolly beanie hats (just about fit my 2.5 year old son) for 1p in Loughborough Tesco late last week. Had a few left yesterday- so again worth a scan if you see some!

I'd phone Customer Services immediately and complain!!! That is not right!! It wouldnt be a case for the police therefore you are not a thief. Malpractice - how, because a friend has told you about lots of things you can buy in Tescos for 1p?!?! We are paying customers. Could we accuse them of malpractice if we were overcharged (which im sure happened to me lots before I learnt about DTD etc!!?!!
