Is it tempting fate...

I'm going food shopping today. Joy of Joys. Sainsburys are having a 1/3 off baby stuff at the moment. I'm only 8 weeks pregnant. Am I tempting fate if I buy a packet of baby nappies?

I think you should go and have fun shopping for your baby
If anything does go wrong to people who are pregnant and the worst happens it is not because they have bought some baby things..0 -
It is a very individual choice. I personally didn't buy anything till I was about 34 weeks (if I remember rightly) and waited till I was fullterm to buy a carseat. When LO was a few weeks old I decided to buy a cot and pram! I knew I'd have felt terrible if I'd have bought something and it went wrong, even though logically I knew they wouldn't be connected. That is why I waited.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

The only thing I can say is everywhere always has offers on nappies etc so unless you really want to store them for months don't bother yet - they will be at that price again before your baby comes!
Congrats by the way!SAHM Mummy tods (born Oct 2007) and dd (born June 2010)0 -
I have an idea for you instead of buying things and having the issue of storing them for so long. Instead of purchasing nappies and things now, why not put the money in a jar instead so you are spreading the cost. As everyone else said there are always deals on nappies and other baby items. Congratulations and best wishes.0

Hi Op
If you want them and dont mind storing them then buy them. I have never been one to wait i was checking out pushchairs at 8 wks preggers I had paid for it and had it home by the time i was 16wks. My friend was mortified she said it was unlucky to have the pram in the house until the baby was born. personally i think its codswallop. Do what you want however like others have said you do have to store it all :-) x:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

No such things as fate so you can't tempt it. But god forbid, should anything go wrong, baby things might just be an unwelcome reminder?
Spend your money on looking after yourself really well right now! Best wishesSkip dipper and proud....0 -
Stick the money in a jar/high interest account (if you're more organized than I generally am!) until you're through scans and the like if you're worried you'll be tempting fate? I know people who chucked a pack of nappies or wipes or something small in with each weekly shop from the second they got two blue lines on a stick so they had a mountain of baby stuff ready for the big event - and others who didn't buy anything until they were almost fit to pop - depends what you feel comfortable doing really (and how much space you have to store things).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I don't think it's fate if anything goes wrong, but personally I've never bought a thing until after 20 week scan.
Save the money you would have spent, there'll be other offers there always are on baby things.0 -
Well I didn't buy them. I thought they'll more than likely be on offer again like they always are. I shocked my mum when I said I was 9 weeks this saturday. She thought I was only 6. Bless her.
I know some of you don't believe in fate, but we have very very bad luck in our family. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0
