    From what i read they are after her hubby? Therefore she is not required to supply them with any information pertaining to his alleged debt.
    On the other hand, constant harassment is an offence and unlikely a Creditor will want that brought before the Court for examination.

    Is their number withheld when calling? You could pay for Anonymous Caller Reject via BT for a while - nothing gets through that!

    I feel the OP's pain. I don't owe money, however I used to receive quite a number of calls at the flat I rent - in connection with previous tenants who did owe money, along with the usual marketing calls. This despite the number being on TPS.

    I had ACR at the time, but of course this does not block overseas or "number unavailable" calls. I also found BT's "choose to refuse" quite useful as it allowed me to block up to 10 persistent offenders. However these are cost options and I doubt the OP is looking to add to their expenditure!

    I started screening all my calls - anything International or from numbers I don't recognise goes to ansaphone. I also have a Panasonic cordless phone - It offers a nifty feature where you can program it not to ring during a certain time period (e.g between 9pm and 6am) except for specified numbers. These phones can be picked up quite cheaply s/hand at local markets or car boots.

    After a few months of screening the calls dropped to near nil. Indeed I canceled ACR and CTR a couple of months ago to save money.

    We can all fall on hard times if circumstances conspire against us, and no one deserves to be hounded mercilessly on top of the stress they are already suffering due to their financial worries.

    If you want some free advice get in touch with Credit Consumer Counselling Service its a freephone number which is 0800 1381111 and they can deal with any company for you so you won't have to have any contact with Capital One or their debt collectors. They give excellent advice and can advise you what to do.

    Yes, they might leave a message once but someone's paying their wages and wanting results. They'll move on.

    Companies generally have you on what I think is called Auto dial so they don't have to sit there waiting, dialling every number to speak to you. That's why the gap when you initially answer, before they continue ;)
