Put the phone DOWN! You are not obliged to answer the phone. Get caller display, change your number or whatever it takes.

As for your question the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 may apply against their UK end.

Best thing is to stop speaking to them if they're upsetting you. That's easy.

That wont stop the phone ringing off.

Why not? If you have caller ID let the answer machine get it after 3-4 rings. These scumbags who phone your house have far better things to do that speak to answering machines.

Yes, they might leave a message once but someone's paying their wages and wanting results. They'll move on.

If anyone - regardless of whether I owed them money - spoke to me like that, they'd get a polite "f*** off" and the phone put down!
    .

this is what I would have done

Capital 1 can be a real pain!

My friend has gotten into bother with them and they literally call you every hour!

And it's automated - so there system will just call you and then if there is someone in their centre available; they will go on to take the call.

It's a joke and harrassment - fine, people may say, well keep up with your payments, and that's fine, but people will have problems sometimes and this sort of behaviour and these types of actions just make the whole thing seem so much worse!

    Thats my 2c anyhow!

or you could do what ive done in the past and actually say " hang on i'll just get a pen" and don't hang up , go back to watching tv emmerdale etc , when the programmes finished check if they are still there. works every time for me lol

they can't send bailiffs to your home as the debt is unsecured

Incorrect I'm afraid. You're correct in the sense that bailiffs can't just rock up to your property and take stuff at random the moment you miss a payment on something...

BUT: There are a few conditions that have to be met and a CCJ would have to be granted, but people can and often do send bailiffs to collect "unsecured" debts.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything

She will most definitely spend time in jail to re-enact some of these.
