Who does the food shop in your household?

We do ours together, once a month approx £85 in Lidls takes about an hour, and then half hour in Tesco £30 or so on fresh fruit/veg (don't like Lidls for that).
Rest of month bread/milk tops ups at wherever we're near.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I usued to do it on my own. OH has always got home later than me. But when I started a new job I tried ordering online and its great. I tend to do it on a Sunday night when we're both in then he can say what he wants. Although you pay for delivery, by the time I've paid petrol to get to the nearest decent supermarket I think it only costs me a pound or two to have someone do my shopping and deliver it to my door. I honestly can't work out why I didn't do it sooner and would highly recommend it to anyone who hates going to the supermarket. Its probably the cheapest way to buy back your time you'll find. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Its only free because you've paid for it.
Noone can have everything they want and the sooner you learn that the better.

We don't do a big weekly or monthly shop. I'm in or near supermarkets most days through work, so I tend to do buy a couple of days worth of food at a time, along with things I've run out of. You need to be very disciplined to do this and just buy for the meals you went in for, and not throw random things that take your fancy into the basket!
Sometimes he fancies cooking something and he'll come in having bought the ingredients and tell me we're having ..... for tea. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I do it in our house. I hate it when dh does the food shopping because he ALWAYS ends up buying loads of stuff we don't need. EG. 250grams of mince for 89p instead of 500g for £1. Drives me mad and he just doesn't understand. Then he gets annoyed because I cut it in 2 pieces and make 2 meals out of it. I have explained so many times that it's the same amount of mince in each meal that he was going to buy...but he still thinks we should use all of it in one meal! Honestly! Ohhhh rant over...2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100

Did he really do a _monthly_ shop for £69?
He did, but there is only me and him, plus two greedy cats.
I will probably spend another £15 on fresh fruit and veg over the month, and some bits & pieces from the Chinese supermarket - coconut milk, noodles, Thai chillis etc.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -
I do the shopping, along with the gardening, mowing the lawn, fixing broken stuff in the house, ironing, cleaning, basically everything, I am going to adopt Loublue train of thought next week, my OH is not useless, just hasn't been shown...Just wait until he gets back from the Radiohead concert in a wee while, hes not gonna like it!"Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Ooo, my mate is up there, rang me three times totally hammered!
Your OH isn't called Vin is he?
Is there any way you can delegate some of the chores? My dad helps with the garden and his 13-year-old niece does ironing for pocket money.DEBT FREE! Sep '08/£9,800 in Oct '06 :beer:0 -

My OH sounded hammered too when he phoned to say he was on his way home on the train, I can see Merlot going out to look for Vin;) , with our two children Chardonnay and Alexandrouli in tow.
Apparently it was a good concert even if it did rain."Wisdom doesn't automatically come with old age. Nothing does, except wrinkles. It's true, some wines improve with age. But only if the grapes were good in the first place." — Abigail Van Buren0
