I do with they wouldn't encourage people by putting offers on battery eggs. Normal free range eggs are often reduced and still have about a week left on them till the use by date. I'm not one for getting all moral, but I think I'd rather go without.

I have to agree, I would never knowingly buy battery eggs or chickens.
I am lucky, I get my free range eggs from my neighbour who gets them directly from someone they know who has a farm, I know that mine are genuine free range eggs. I do think though that sometimes the packaging on eggs is very misleading, eg 'Barn' eggs, sound as though they are from happy, healthy chickens, but often they are so overcrowded as to be no better than battery.
I know that some families can't afford free range, but if more people bought them, then perhaps the price would come down, and like Smashing, if I couldn't afford them, I would rather do without too.
  • thanks triker am off to asda with my rainy day tenner a wee bit of xtra savvy shopping and I should save lotsa pennies ta very much for clarifying starting time...anne
