Okay, I'm ready, got my tent, a smart price loo-roll, some hand sanitiser gel, some wellies, an inappropriately floaty frock and an industrial sized bottle of Jack Daniels......festivals here we come. :j :j

Actually, I've never been to Glasto, but have been to Donnington, Reading, Leeds and....er.....one I'd never heard of in Manchester a couple of years ago that had David Bowie and Suede (really fab actually!).

I do not fear the rain, bring on the mud, the oddly incongruous fairground rides, the stalls selling weird sheeite and the 'herbal' buns! :D:D

I feel ancient posting this, but I went to Glastonbury in 1977.
Can't remember who was playing but I know it was a free festival and we drank loads of scrumpy from the farm up the road.
It was in a different place to where it is now and it was great.
The tepee people took me and my mate in one night as we were really out of it and when I woke up I thought I had croaked it in the night.
Such lovely people and everyone looked out for each other.
Little kids just roamed about and everyone kept their eye on them.
We hitch hiked in pairs from Derbyshire and then back at the end.
I'd love to be going as I hear Leonard Cohen is there and I saw him in Brighton in the 70's. Fantastic.
    Those were the days.
    I'd need a hotel/Winnebago now as I've got a dodgy back.
I hope all of you festival goers have a fab time.

I would need a hotel for hundreds of reasons...I mean, where am I going to plug my GHDs in if I'm not in a hotel?

I went in 99 and had an amazing time- but it was really sunny all weekend which helped. Wouldn't risk it again, although I do want to go to Donnington next year if the line up's any good.

Today I'm starting the first of 8 days of 11 hour shifts... want to cry but in true DFW style I'm planning to use the overtime on OH's CC so should bring it down a good couple of hundred £. :money:

  • I went to festivals in the early eighties.....a hoot and far cheaper than now. There were some dodgy folk about then as well..but in all honesty it wasn't a problem as even the stoners were a good laugh! Well when they fell over!
I did hear of prices reaching well into the hundreds, for some tickets..spoils it a bit really.

Glastonbury tickets are supposedly so expensive because of the charity donations they make from the proceeds - but as of this morning there were still a few tickets left so possibly they have overpriced them (they sold out in under 2 hours last year).
