    On the butter. Think laterally!!!

ASDA own brand spreadable butter is only £1 for 500g. So equivilent to 50p.

Tesco Kerrygold spreadable 500g is only £1 so equivilent to 50p.

Smartprice wholemeal bread makes great toast.

ASDA ultimate burgers at 8 for £3 are the biggest and best BBQ burgers to try out this weekend.

Freerange eggs. Can be a bit of a con. Hens that are kept in a large barn that has a door to the outside are freerange. The chickens seldom venture out, but because they can if they want they are free range.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

I went in two different Asdas yesterday. Neither store made the offers obvious. If you did not know or didn't usually buy the items you would not have been aware that they were on special offer. In the first store they had sold out of grapes and melons. In the second store the 50p a kilo potatoes were amongst the apples. The melons didn't have a price tag showing which is probably why there were some left. Why have a promotion and then be reluctant to hand out the stock or not have nearly enough to meet the obvious demand.

They were in my Asda although they only had some of the fruit and veg but managed to get the grapes, tomatoes and bananas. So not bad at all.

Off to see what Tesco have....

No potatoes, tomatoes or butter this morning in my Asda. The offers weren't well signed either, what a surprise!

Bread is 36p a loaf in Aldi every week! ... It's not the greatest but it's fine for toast! :D
Best wins: ITV Real Deal CASH,Trip to Lapland.
  • My Asda had no 50p offers left:mad: shouldn't be surprised but is was extremely busy which is the idea,I think they should have been better stocked as it got the tills were ringing kind of under false pretenses.
I was in a que to get out of the store, many other shelves were empty.
Anyway mustn't grumble as I used vouchers and got around 60% of my shopping:D

ASDA & Tesco are just trying to get back some of the thousands of customers that have deserted the big 4 and gone to the supermarkets that can sell goods cheaper i.e. Lidl, Aldi, etc.
They are desperate to get their market share back because that is how they bargain with suppliers. The ones with the higher market share can negotiate better with suppliers.
Anyway, it's been well documented that the big 4 have grown a big war chest over the past weeks and months and now can easily afford to have a 3-day price reduction (on their smartprice range only??!!) just to get back their customers.
This is all just a gimmick by the greedy supermarkets who have been making billions of pounds of profit at consumers and suppliers' expense for ages.
If you're happy with their Smartprice goods, then by all means go to ASDA this weekend but then go back to the discount supermarkets after that.
I, personally, have had enough of the price-fixing, supplier harassment, over-priced, greedy, manipulatory behaviour of the big supermarkets.
I am lucky enough to live near greengrocers for fruit and vegetables, butchers for meat and poultry, fishmongers for fresh fish, "discount" supermarkets so I don't have to wait for "offers" by the big 4 - I can always take advantage of lower prices.

Somerfield's value bread is only 39p on a regular basis. OH has never mentioned anything about it not being too nice...so that's what he gets.

Smart price fruit juice 3 x 200ml has gone up from 43p to £1.43 in a week. This is 232%. I think we should all bombard Asda customer service email to let them know they've been sussed.
