An article did say ASDA as a company was going to take the hit themselves not their suppliers if that helps

That is covered in the DM article, ASDA have 'assured' us that it is them taking the hit for the price cuts. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

So can I!! Worst bit about it is, that back then I was on a very tight budget so smart price was the only way ... now I buy more expensive bread etc however it will soon be back to smart price the way things are going!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I have been buying smart price bread for the last few weeks to cut down on spending and it is fine... however it is only 37p anyway, how sad am I that I know the price
Off to Asda today so hopefully save a bit0 -
I too am against the battery hen eggs and would never buy them at any price..however i have just got back from asda and 18 freerange eggs are only £2.00 which works about 50p more expensive than the value ones. A small price to pay for the hens welfare.0

Sometimes farmers keep the hens in big metal hangers roaming around :j . This is to stop them getting eaten by foxes. Yes, they dont see daylight but they can walk around in a really big space the size of half a football pitch. This is still technically classed as free range

I've just been to my local Asda in Belfast and been told that this does not apply in Northern Ireland. I'd love to know why that is.0
