hang on, do debt free direct charge a fee? There are charities that do the same thing for free so that whatever you're paying, it all comes off the debt. They're called Payplan, CCCS and Citizens Advice Bureau.
I don't think the charities will take bonuses into account as it's not guaranteed, but I'm not 100% sure about that.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
I think most people advise going with one of the free DM companies like Payplan. It wouldn't hurt to call them BEFORE you sign anything that commits you. Good luck0

The CCCS do not take into account bonuses. Use CCs or PayPlan.0

Don't go with Debt Free Direct - they will charge you a monthly fee. Other companies will do the same thing for free, the money you pay in fees could be reducing your debts! Ring them and cancel the man tomorrow!!!
CCCS are free (amonst others), you can fill in your details online for a general idea of what they will suggest for you: http://www.cccs.co.uk/

 Darling, I can't imagine why you'd choose Debt Free Direct based on reading this board, when all the comments I've ever read about them here would make me say "No-o-o-o-o-o-o!"
And any time anyone ever mentions them everyone says
"Why pay a company of sharks like Debt Free Direct when Payplan or CCCS will do a better job for free?"
If you call either Payplan or CCCS they will give you advice that will help you - Debt Free Direct will give you advice that will make them money.
Here's the contact details for CCCS hon. (I'm sure someone else can give you the details for Payplan.)
http://www.cccs.co.uk/contact/contact.aspx
Don't sign that paperwork hon.

I don't think I can add anything that hasn't been said already... Go with one of the organisations in my sig - they will be working in YOUR interest and not their own unlike Debt Free Direct who will be taking a cut of everything you pay! Don't pay the vultures to help you (and more often than not they are rubbish anyway) - use the help available for free!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

We are now looking at going BR, please do not use DFD. If i had seen and read this board before i would have never used them!!!!

Hi Beth
Based on what the very knowledgable people on here have already said, if you're still seeing this guy from Debt Free Direct tomorrow, I'd make 100% sure of any fees that they charge before you sign up for anything.
Do read zoe2008's post again.part of me is saying just plod a long as it,s a mess we got into everyone is getting paid no 1 behind thank god
But if there are ways of cutting your bills, reducing your payments etc (and I'm sure there will be), surely it's better to do something about it NOW than continue as things are. You'll be debt-free much sooner.0
