There are no words that can explain how we are feeling right now. Still feel numb and like its not happeneing to us. The only thing keeping us going at the moment is our daughter , who likewise, keeps upsetting us by saying and asking things about Thomas.

We also cant express enough how all your support and messages have made us feel. We have both sat and read through the thread and cried our eyes out over and over but it has been lovley too, to see that people we dont really 'know' could care so much about our little lad. It somehow is giving us strength.

For whatI am about to ask for help with, I feel incredibly guilty. Because Thomas was just 8 months old, he hadnt had chance to grow to love music like his big sister and didnt have a 'favourite' song. We have seen the Vicar again today and we cant begin to think of a piece of music or song to be played as we enter and leave the church. We have already chosen Rubylou88's poem to have read at the funeral as it said everything that we can hope to feel in a time when things are a little less raw. If any of you wonderful girls have any sort of suggestion , it would be very appreciated, no matter if you think it not be a good one, it may just be right for our baby. I feel so guilty sitting here writing this. Things are just so difficult and everytime I try to think of something, it leads straight to thoughts of Thomas and I just cry again. Feel free to PM me or even post on here I dont mind either way.

Again myself and Jeff cant thank you enough for all your kind words and support and all the PM's we recieved too, it was so overwhelming. Thank you so much.

    Jill & Jeff

p.s PLEASE dont feel like you cant post Boots stuff here now, please. If it wasnt for you guys posting about Boots, We wouldnt have found all these friends, and the wonderful boots goodies we shared with Thomas and Charlotte. xx

Thank you again, if you are that way inclined, please say a prayer for my mum on Wednesday.

  • Hi all,
Is there anyone that is in the hertfordshire area, preferably St Albans/ london colney? Have you found any s&g products that have been reasonably priced? I found some a couple of weeks ago in Hemel Hemstead but they were all full price, nothing like what some of you guys have been finding!! Sorry for all the questions, but are there any offers out there that will help me boost my advantage card points?
    TIA

I think you are coping so very well. I admire & applaud you all. Please don't be afraid to speak of Thomas as 'normal'. He existed in life & still does in your heart & mind & this must always remain the case, bless you all.

At my cousins ( aged 3 ) funeral we have The Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book. We asked the hospital DJ to play it on air on her birthday & it seemed apt to play that as she left the church.
Also Somewhere over the rainbow is lovely especially the version they played on ER when Dr Green passed away ( someone help me out here, will google youtube )
Others mentioned above too are suitable.

Be as brave as you can but no one is expecting you to suffer anything less than heartbreak so do/feel what you need to & worry not of other poeple.
Take care & all our love from my home you yours.

I love this version of Somewhere over the rainbow - I don't know if this is the one that was played in ER or not.

I can't look at any of the links any more - I have tears streaming down my face again.

I have no idea how you are coping so well Jill, Jeff and Charlotte. It must be heartbreaking trying to choose songs and readings, etc. Something you neve think you should ever have to do.

My heart goes out to you all. God bless you all.

    Hi Jill and Jeff

I was about to suggest Eric Clapton too, really lovely lyrics, although I think it's actually called Tears in heaven. We played this at my bro-in-laws funeral a couple of years ago and everyone thought it was a nice and appropriate song.
Everyone is still thinking of you and everyone else who knew little baby Thomas. Please don't feel guilty for finding a song choice difficult - it is a hard thing to decide as it will be a day that will never leave you. In time though hopefully you can begin to replace the sad memories with happier ones and remember the mischief and laughs. Please take things slowly (like Colin said) and always know how lucky Thomas was to have you all.

    Jill,

Thank you for taking time to post on here as you must have so much on your mind right now.
It goes without saying our thoughts and prayers will be with your Mum on Wednesday and with you and your family throughout this awful time.
I think the Eric Clapton song "Tears in Heaven" as suggested by pegginout would be lovely although I always find it emotional anyway. It was written when he lost his son Connor.

I don't know about others but Bootsing just seems a bit less important now ,although I am sure we will all get back into the swing of things soon!
I am having tests at the hospital tomorrow so that along with the loss of such a young baby puts things into perspective doesn't it.

Take care and give your Mum our love,

I am so sorry. Words don't seem sufficient at the time. I hope you will get some strength from all of the heartfelt messages on this thread. I applaud your support of Alder Hey, following their amazing treatment of my cousin 23 years ago and their support during the loss of a family friend also many years back.

As for the song, echo Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" and Eva Cassidy "songbird" or her version of Over the Rainbow

Another- one I have on a CD compilation that gets me every time I hear it- Mary Black, Wonderchild

This child he means the world to me, There is no more enchanted
A child can take this place of ruin, And magically enhance it.

I see him in a golden room, With the book of life before him
Strange instruments upon his charts, And the crystal glow inside him.

He's your Wonder Child, And my dreams come true
You've searched all your life, I see him now flying over the universe.

This child will build a violin, One will follow the traveller's love
Another will the bow apply, To reach the one above.

I see her in a golden room, With the moon and stars above her
Her simple smile is Heaven's gate, With the Queen of all beside her.

She's your Wonder Child, And my dreams come true
You've searched all your life, I see her now flying over the universe.

Your Wonder Child, And my dreams come true
You've searched all your life, I see them now flying over the universe.
