  • I was thinking of the Josh Groban song - "To where you are"

I am sure whatever song you choose will be the right one for little Thomas.

You mother will be in my thoughts on Wednesday. x

Hi Jill, thank you so much for taking the time to post. I can only imagine how terribly heart-wrenching it is to choose a song for a loved ones funeral :(

I think My Immortal (the album version) by Evanescence is soooo beautiful and haunting. The lyrics bring tears to my eyes and the arrangement make my heart swell everytime.

    My Immortal

I actually sing for a living, and had the idea this morning to send you something special. :o
I am talking to someone at the moment to do me a piano backing so i can sing for you one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. This wouldn't be with you in time for the funeral, this is just something i want to do for you and your family. :A

I hope you are both finding a small glimmer of strength reading the posts. And please know you and your family are in our hearts and thoughts, always.

This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.

Thankyou for posting and touching base. Two songs which always bring me to tears are, as already suggested Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven," and also Des'ree's "Kissing You, " which was used in the "Romeo + Juliet" movie a few years ago. Lyrics are something like this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt-NwAA3Wvo

    Kissing You

Pride can stand a thousand trials,
    The strong will never fall
    But watching stars without you,
    My soul cried
Heaving heart is full of pain,
    Oh, oh, the aching
    'Cos I'm kissing you, oh,
    I'm kissing you, oh
Touch me deep, pure and true,
    Gift to me forever
    'Cos I'm kissing you, oh,
    I'm kissing you, oh
    Where are you now?
    Where are you now?
'Cos I'm, oh I'm kissing you,
    I'm kissing you, oh, ohhhh!

All the very best to your family, especially in the weeks ahead. We share your heavy hearts and hope that one day your hearts will sing again.

Also Somewhere over the rainbow is lovely especially the version they played on ER when Dr Green passed away

It's by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, from the album Alone in IZ World released 2001. I love it too, it's beautiful.

That is such a lovely idea SK :A

It must be incredibly painful having to organise the funeral while you are all still recoiling from the suddenness of it all Jill- my heart really does go out to you. I'm afraid I have no suggestions to add, but some lovely songs have been mentioned by previous Bootsers.
On a separate note, your mother is also in my thoughts. I so hope that her operation goes to plan and that she is soon back on her feet.

As SK has said, you and your family are in our thoughts and hearts always x

    hi jill,
first of all I am so very sorry to hear your sad, devastating news. My thoughts are with you and your family.
I lost a baby nearly 5 years ago and the song by HAYLEY WESTENRA 'HEAVEN' just about summed up how we were feeling. The words were beautiful. I'm sorry I don't know how to post a link, but if you google it, you can hear it online. Hope that helps in a small way
