I'm sure there's going to be many suggestions, so just thought I'd chuck another in to the pot.
How about one person collecting and ultimately sending the total in the form of a cheque to Jill, but made out to a Meningitis charity in Thomas' memory from us all?
I'd imagine Jill will be inundated with flowers?0 -
I am a newbie on this site, and just a stranger to you Jill but I cannot imagine the pain you are going through. My heartfelt sympathies go out to you and your family at this time. x
Ladies R:E the hamper idea I thought maybe it could be a good idea if we could fill a hamper or two! of goodies and maybe donate it to a meningitis charity who could then raffle or auction it to raise much needed funds.
Just an idea

Do we have an idea where she lives? if by chance its liverpool then ill do the collection as its not that far from me (over the mersey)If it has tyres or testicles, it's gonna give ya problems..

A cheque made out to Jill would seem a better idea, then as people have said, she can do as she wants with it, buy a keepsake and give the rest to a Meningitis research charity, or the hospital or whatever.
If flowers were to be sent, rather than waste the money paying Interflora (or whatever) fees, its always best to order direct via the local florist to save the relay fees. I'm not a cheapskate, but it seems silly to pay ££'s extra, just for another florist to have to make a phonecall to order something, when the local florist can be spoken to directly and something much more suitable can be ordered.0 -

Perhaps we could send a cheque made out to Jill then she could do what she feels best with it?
I think a cheque would be a good idea, as I had been thinking along the lines of how it would be nice to bring over a meal or offer to help in other ways, which isn't really possible at this distance. With a cheque she can order take away or put it towards other needs, anything to reduce some of the normal chores that must seem impossible to deal with right now.0 -
Maybe we could set something up so everyone could donate online0
