Booked a 'bargain' holiday last year. Place was so filthy and disgusting walked out and demanded our money back. Mould and dirty hand prints on the windows, filthy carpets that you wouldn't let a dog walk on let alone a baby. Ugh ugh ugh. This year we found a nice independent campsite got a deal for the same price and had a lovely time.
Look up on Google Pontin's reviews, and find some for the one you want to go to, you'll find pictures that confirm nothing been done for decades and absolute horror stories.
If you don't mind cheap, cheerful and foul and filthy and disgusting, book Pontins, but your money could be far wiser spent.:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin0 -
All very well and I appreciate your point, but if your experience was one of absolute filth, and your chalet not fit for animals,I think you would feel inclined to share your experience. Obviously some will be lucky, but far too many people have a negative experience and people should be warned before they go.cheekyherb wrote: »I've got to say guys, all the slating of "Pontins" is not very constructive. I went with an open mind a few weeks ago and was pleasantly suprised. Ok, so its not 5* luxury but its a chalet, which you use as a base for days out. The entertainment in the evening was great for the kids and the cabaret at 10pm for adults was actually really good. The chalet, although small and dated was clean and adequate for our 2 children and us to sleep in, cook and leave our belongings so we could visit the beach, entertainment pool etc. The blue coats, although young, were enthusiastic and welcomed you and your children and made the children feel special in their "crocs club". Its a cheap holiday and you make of it what you will. I am sorry some of you got food poisoning and had a crap time, my family and I had a good cheap holiday and will def go again.
Lets stop all the moaning and groaning and actually look at the positives that happen, life is far to short to !!!!! and moan about every post that is put on here. I am grateful for all the tips, discounts etc that people find the time to post up.

I've been to Pontins a couple of times over the years, one in Hemsby and one in Southport, also one in north wales (Can't remember the name!) and to be honest, can't fault any of them. We paid around £50 for the weekend, so a tenner each, and used it as a base to explore the area, and used the bars in the evenings. Clean, basic accomodation. I think unfortunately, due to the sheer numbers of people that use these places they will always received mixed opinions, for every bad story, you can probably find several good ones, but most people who have had a good time don't feel as much of a need to vent.0

We booked a long weekend at Brean last year and it was totally disgusting. Spiders and dirt all over our rooms. It honestly did not look like it had been properly cleaned in months. Finally complained after horrible food and pure dirtiness of the place. We asked to see the manager on duty as it was clear he was around as the member of staff, bless her kept going back in the office to ask him questions, he refused to even speak with us! They posted us a voucher for a 50% off on our next visit (only could use at Brean) as if!! I would not go back to that particular camp ever again.
On a more positive note, we have stayed at one other before this and it was ok for a budget holiday weekend, clean, tidy and staff were great then. I really do think it was just a bad location and have had friends who have stayed at diff ones say they were good and have agreed that Brean is not a good representation of Pontins. But who knows maybe things have changed over the past year. I hope so as I think they are great options, especially now with it being so expensive to take a break about the only option I for one have left for a get away.I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -

My family and I have been to the Cambersands site in Sussex for the last 3/4 years, what a fantastic beach

If you have a problem with the cleanliness of the room, why don't you ask to be moved to a different chalet
We went at the same time as a massive foreign exchange group & the noise was unbelievable, we complained at the time (along with 5 or 6 other families) and we got moved to a different chalet within 5 minutes :T
We also got caught in the storm & power/water cut for 24 hours (hail the size of 50 pence pieces )
They supplied hot water in the canteen & gave us a different chalet key to have our showers in.
We love the beach in Camber, which is why we go. we use the chalet as a base to sleep, clean and eat in, go the beach and go exploring the local area (Hastings, Rye, Fishbourne, Brighton.....)
We usually get a really cheap deal (missed it this year though
) but would go again tomorrow (hint hint
)
We went to Prestatyn last year for a 2 day weekend  that was horrible, but again if you only use it as a base & not expect 5* accomadation, it's fine0 -

How can you say these posts are not constructive? If they warn others off spending a horrid unpleasant time in cesspit of a scanky holiday camp then surly they are worth their weight in gold? So many people have so many bad things to say it really is not a case of a few bad mouthed people, the truth is Pontins should be shut down.
Pontis is rotten to the core and I personally did not for one second enjoy my summer holiday at wall park, staying in a place I would not ask my dog to stay, Points was filthy dirty and should be closed down a bug infested hell hole, better off saving your cash and holidaying at home!Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
brean sands pontins is like stalag 17 its a wonder people pay to go there they should be paying us to stay there. Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)0

cheekyherb, what number did you phone to get the free update? I have just tried and before I could even give them any details they say codes cannot be used on an existing booking.
I agree the chalets are basic but they are cheap so it depends what you are looking for.
We like Camber Sands and we also go to Hemsby. When at Hemsby I cannot use the club because it smells so bad. We have been three years running on freebies or cheapies and it always smells the same.
I am sure Pontins would get much better reviews if they ripped all the carpets up in chalets and clubs and replaced with flooring that can be washed.0 -
