i have to agree with Oberon. I have a little diary too that has every D/D, payment, payday ect written in. my work schedule, DS clubs ect child care, spending, petrol, milage so basically my whole life. i have even been known to make notes about others so i can remind them of their stuff so i dont panic.... sad i know but organisation is the key !!!!!
its addictive aswell. I've managed to convert one of my nurses aswell.Only the Mortgage to go!!!0 -
Anne lucky you, are you planning to move cos I could do with a neighbour like that!!
Oberon - I love UFO teas as I call them (un-identified frozen object) and so do OH and DD, so much so in fact that when I brought home some labels and announced I was going to keep track of what I froze DD was horrified and said ' but Mum I love UFO teas and they won't be if you label them' LOL0 -
Being organised is def. the key to it! This month we were far less organised than last! The result was we spent double our shopping budget whereas last month we spent £15 less than our shopping budget!
This month i'm being uber organised. I've made a meal plan plus costed a monthly, weekly and bi-weekly shopping list with everything we'll need to eat healthily, 5 a day etc. It comes to exactly our budget! If we go over it'll only be because there are loads of whoopsies for the freezer...but I wouldn't mind that!!!
DH eats at work a lot so that really helps as he averages the portion size of a rather large horse...2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100 -
Right, I have spent some of my money!! £29.00 to be exact, they were things I needed so not feeling guilty, DD is going on holiday with her Dad in 3 weeks time and needed some holiday clothes (she is constantly growing out of everything as they do!) so got a few bits for her and a bath mat which we desperately needed as we have been using an old towel since we did up the bathroom - not ideal with three of us showering every morning - it was in the sale for £2.50, reduced from £7 so am really pleased!
Total left for month = £275.710 -
Hi there. I have just been paid as well, will have £32 left after petrol, groceries etc so will need to be really careful and make sure I don't run out of petrol or do anything which might cost money. Usually have a bit more but I messed up last month and got loads of bank charges.
What I find hard is when you have little expenses that you can't plan for. Like if you have to do something for work and feel obliged to buy a round of drinks or pay sponsorship for one of your colleagues. I've just paid £4 sponsorship so I'm down to £28 now...
Friends & family understand and are usually happy to save money themselves for example if we meet up for a meal out we will find a bogof voucher and go there.0 -
I have £203.25 in the bank after feeding the necessary funds to the household account.
From the £203ish I have to petrol, £50 to Egg, £35 to MBNA, £15 to mobile phone, and fund a wkend in London, as well as other incidental social events that are on the horizon! Looks like it will be into the OD again this month! Trouble with the OD is that once you are into it, it has a knock on effect come payday!"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -
Meow - totally understand the unexpected thing - I 'had' to sponsor the son of one of the directors at work, granted it was only £2.50 but that could have paid for two large bottles of milk!!
tsharp - I am always in my OD, managed to be only £47 this month which was really good for me, I am aiming not to be in the red at all this month!0 -
I was £76 in OD this month, need to avoid OD altogether or only just dip in as I have car tax next month..."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0
