Good Citizen Dog Scheme - Any Experience?

  • We (Tegan the terrible terrier and me) are doing the bronze level on Monday night

We have been attending the training sessions for ten weeks and I have to say Teggie has improved ten fold however she is a fidget so I have a feeling we are going to fail on the sit, stay for one minute but the whole experience has been great. It has given her the opportunity to socialise with other dogs in a controlled environment and we've made some new friends too.

So, I was all excited about taking Teddy to the class to find out more - but got waylaid. To cut a long story short, Teddy was hopping around in some very long grass on last night's walk, and when he came out he kept shaking his head as if something was stuck in his ear. We couldn't see anything so thought we would wait until today to see if the situation had improved. It hadn't, so I took Teddy to the vet this evening and waited ages to be seen!! The vet can see some grass pods in his right ear and said that they need to be removed under anasthetic  Teddy's only been under anasthetic once before, and that was when he was castrated!! So he's having that done tomorrow, and we missed the training class. We'll have to wait until next week to find out more info - I just hope it's not too late before the next Bronxe class starts!

    Just a quickie :)

Had a call from the vet to pick Teddy up. He is all ok and had a couple of grass pods removed from his right ear. The vet very kindly put them in a plastic bag as a memento :D

Wednesday night's walk proved to be quite costly - £152!! Thank goodness for insurance!! Teddy is very well, if a bit sleepy. Have to go get some chicken for his dinner.

Aww poor Teddy! Glad it was nothing more serious than grass seeds though, he'll be back on his feet in no time.
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.
