Can I join this too please starting from September - I have got an MBNA card with a balance of around £2000.00 - I will get a proper balance next week and would like this paid by christmas. Its just over 17 weeks away so that is roughly £115 a week - heres hoping! x x

Some of the things we do to clear our debts as quick as we can:
    • we rent our spare room out to students
    • OH works two jobs - in his second job he has been working 40 hours a week on top of his "normal" full time job.
    • I still see therapy clients some evenings and weekends, on top of full time work in my "normal" job.
    • I do as many mystery shops as I can fit in
    • we don't have treats - no cinema, swimming, magazines or takeaways except if there are free vouchers to pay for them
    • we do all the surveys we possibly can
    • we do free bingo, matched betting,
    • ebay, amazon and car boots
    • Cut back on as much as we can - our SOA is pared to the bone.
    • We work as a team - the children as well as me and OH. They have to go without in order that we can get to where we want to be and they are very very good about not complaining if they can't do or have what their mates do or have.
and so on and so forth!

My focus is to get the debt down, as quickly as possible, so we can get on with living our lives in the way that we want to. That means being focused and not getting sidetracked. We have come too far now to let things slip......and at the rate we are going we will be debt free in 20 months - not bad considering the amount of debt we have.

So challenges like this are ideal for me - another way of concentrating on the job in hand!

    :T

As for whether HSBC will be paid off by Christmas......nice idea, but realistically I think February is more likely!

I'll join in - my target is to get rid of the Halifax credit card I have had since 2001. At some points it has been at a balance of £13K (I lived off it while out of work), but is now down at £750 with a limit of £1550.

I have a court claim outstanding against HBoS for mis-sold PPI and if I'm successful in getting the full amount of my claim, I will pay off this card (and have a bit left over). If I'm not successful though, I will pay it off myself. I've begrudged doing that while this dispute is ongoing.

Either way, this debt will be gone by Xmas.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
