Well basically it was 2nd in a 4 band bill. 1/2 hr slot at a 200 capacity venue for a hard rock night. Their argument? We don't want to make a fool of ourselves and get laughed off stage.....

Sounds to me like a perfect first gig, 200 people is nothing, the worst that will happen is the punters chat and end up at the bar and you play to a dance floor. Trust me, I have played many a gig where we've played to chairs :D and that is with some decent bands.

There is a ton of time before this gig so plenty of time to get the set in order. You have to start gigging at some point. And besides, no one expects the support bands to be up to much anyway. They will never get anywhere with that attitude or playing for the rest of their lives in a flippin rehearsal studio.

IA - how ;long have the band been together?? a 30 minute 2nd slot doesn't sound that much of a hardship but then again I only play a little to destress and not anything close to gig standard but its what?? 8 songs??

Bloody flippin hell sar, tell them if they don't feel ready to get rehearsing then instead of moaning. What's the point in having a band if you don't plan to gig? Everyone feels nervous and like they aren't ready but you just get on with it. Tell them if they don't want to do it, no problem, you can always get a dep in :)

Big babies. 6 months at current line up should be more than enough time to be comfortable with a 30 minute gig

Me thinks the little boys are a bit lacking in confidence and just need their own ego's inflated by being told they are great :rotfl:

Well from where I'm sitting the whole thing is going to be on their say so. Think I'm just going to leave it to them in future and to be fair we've been at this state for god knows how long...

But that's exactly it.. they are! They're really talented guitarists and I know that if we all got our bums into gear we'd pull it off but they're just refusing to even think there's a possibilty we could do it and not be laughed off stage???

To be fair I think the whole thing spooked them. I didn't tell them I was enquiring and then just sent a mass text saying we've been offered a,b,c on x,y,z... it was such a fab opportunity.. 2nd ina 4 band bill supporting a popular local act on a saturday night and could've potentially given us a fab start... but oh well. It's nice to dream.
