Found an unknown direct debit from your account?

I booked flights with Easy Jet and got caught out when they offered £10 of my next booking. By accepting the discount I was signed up to Shopper Discounts who then took £8 from my account (this would have continued each month if I had not cancelled it). It is not a direct debit that is set up, they have your card details and simply use that information to take the payment each month, it shows up on your statement as a POS (point of sale) so you have to cancel this direct with the company and not your bank.
I recently noticed a £10.00 unknown point of sale debit from my account when checking my statement against my home accounts. I have written to shopper discounts to cancel my account with them and requested a pro-rata refund of the amount of the Membership Fee paid for the current term and immediately discontinue use of or receive any benefits of the Service; I have also contacted my bank to report a suspicious withdrawal from my account by shopper discounts. They have cancelled my debit card so that shopper discounts can’t withdraw anymore from my account and will send a new one through the post within the next few days. I hope this is helpful to anyone in the same predicament.

I got tripped up by Shopper Discounts and rewards when booking parking at Heathrow through Purple Parking in 2010 . I clearly did not read thoroughly or remember to cancel my membership after claiming the discount after the free period . I do not remember receiving the numerous email notifications which they say they sent . (maybe in junk mail box) And the deductions from my card went unnoticed til recently. (I had been on holiday in South Africa and had dozens of transactions ). However when I discovered the deductions ,I promptly phoned them and quite easily cancelled my membership via an automated phone system. I then rang and spoke to a very courtious man who listened attentively and offered three months subscriptions refund . I accepted this but then wrote and pointed out my circumstances. They emailed me an Unauthorized Affidavit form whch I filled in and posted back resulting in a full refund of 12 more subsriptions promptly and without trouble . I feel the company has realised they have a problem and are more than willing to put matters right if approached . Shoppers Discounts and Rewards has now ceased and is replaced by Complete Savings which I have been informed is "more transparent". Webloyalty who run these and other schemes here and in the USA I feel are perhaps trying to put their house in order .0
